astral
I have just asked my Thai wife and she thinks 6000 baht a month is right for a live in maid, she would eat the same food as the family. If the maid lives out you may have pay a slightly higher rate to compensate for travel. Always good to get a local who you know, to recommend someone, then you are less likely to get someone light fingered. All the same a copy of the id card is essential. It may be good to have a trial period of say three months, with a small pay rise if you are really satisfied. PS In our house my wife looks after the two grandchildren, while Mums and Dads are at work. Edited April 2, 2006 by astral
