Cervical Cancer Vaccine?

Mrs Ranger just came back from the doc after having a kid 2 months ago.

Sounds like they did a cervical cancer test and will get results next week.

They say there is a vaccine which I understood was for people who had the cells that might cause cancer but the docs you can have it anyway.

Anyone have experience of this? Apparently it costs around 7000 baht.

The vaccine is not for people who already "have the cells that might cause cancer", rather the opposite; it is for people who do not yet have HPV and recommended for the general female public.

It sounds like your wife just had a routine pap smear? In which case yes, if all comes back negative, the vaccine is a good idea. Series of I think 3 injections.

Believe it was first approved for use in teenagers, but later the age group was expanded. Cheers!

Yes it is being administered by private schools here in first school (believe grade five) with parents permission and payment. Recommended age 11-12 by US CDC. CDC still limits upper age recommendation to 26 for females. Some seem to recommend up to age 45
