Hello ;

Does anyone know if there is any import duty on warranty replacements in thailand ? I had bought a SSD hard drive for my PC from USA like 8 months ago and the first time I paid the import duty. last month it broke and RMA'd it for replacement and now I have receive the customs receipt to pay the import duty again !

I guess it should be a mistake on their side. now I am being double charged on a single item.

I would appreciate if anyone can help me regarding this issue.

About 7 months ago I bought a boat and imported it from other country. Paid tax. One part broken. Manufacturer sent me a replacement free of charge. My agent said I have to pay some tax at the Customs. We changed the cost from zero to a nominal amount on the authentic doc so that I have to pay 'something'. I agreed, as the amount is nominal. I think this comes from the same quarters as the 'saving of face'. Don't ask me whose face, though.

I think when you send something for warranty replacement your supposed to get a form from post office to put in box for them to return. But not sure.

Thank you for your replies. I went to post office and I could not convince them to not to charge me for the tax. they said I have to fill a customs complaint form which takes 10 days to process which was not worth the hassle.

Well, my little parcel came FCL/FCL in a 20 ft container. All papers in order, stating: cost 0 euro, Replacement under warranty. Shipment prepaid. Had to fork out 20K w00t.gif
