Hello,

Two months ago made a 5 day trip from Chicago to Isaan, picked up the young one and wife, and drove to Bangkok. I was able to get an appointment last day I was there 730AM for Consular Report of Birth, US Passport and Social Security Card. Pay the fees, submnit everything, talk to the t.ght a.. consular official and it all seems ok. Then he says go pay the fees. Stand in line get it paid and come back to the side window. He had been questioning the wife and he goes, "I'm going to need you to go to the Thailand Immigration Office to get all your entry/exit information to verify you were with her for the conception periods". I said its in the passport. "Well its smudged". (My official passport military which was a bit smudged from travel rain, but it could be read.)

I explained to him I had a civilian passport, military and every time the ship came in we didnt do immigration, you just leave the ship.

Bottom line he's not believeing me even with all the photos of us, etc etc. I have to be at the airport that after noon and getting through the passport option wasn't going to happen.

So 2 months I have been emailing back and forth to one of his toadies and they won't budge.

I contacted Siam Legal chat and they say, well just have the wife go to Bangkok and get the records.

Anyone have a clue if that will work? I emailed twice to the Immigration Office but no reply (no surprise). But any other way at this?

I will pay to get it done, I can't fly back due to work for 2 more months and the knob is implying I am going to lose the fee I freaking paid before he suddenly didn't believe us.

Thanks in advance.

A bit arrogant to say, 'go pay the money' and then question your spouse in your absence and subsequently suggest that you may not be the child's father; but apparently, they are allowed to do that. I am not saying the UK system is superior wherein there's no relying on the rather imprecise ovulation and conception calendar or need for a DNA test either. You provide proof of marriage and an existing relationship and that's about it. Between my wife and I, we still can't agree whether our son's conception was on the sofa in the lounge at home or in a hotel room in Singapore! How old is your child by the way?

If getting your immigration records is the path of least resistance for getting this approved, I would recommend doing it. However, it would be good if someone here could confirm exactly how this can be done. Pity Siam Legal weren't more helpful with advice on HOW to do this. In the meantime, do you have a Seaman's Card or Discharge Book? That should indicate days offshore no? This, in addition to a record of flights (reservation information but boarding passes are much better) to and from Thailand should make any interpretation of 'smudged' stamps quite easy.

Thanks, I knew about the DNA method but am trying to do what they are asking for which seems to be entry data.

The US Navy doesn't use a card like you mention. We just leave the ship with our regular ID Card. And as an officer we didn't sign out or anything it was honor sysytem.

I just emailed the Thai Consulate here in Chicago and hopefully they can help but you are spot on about his behavior. The US Embassy treats every female that goes in there like they are a working girl on the take.

What really pisses me off is how we are letting all the illegals currently living here get some benefits and even a way to citizenship, but a citizen, who served their country in the military for 30 freaking years, to include hostile fire areas, gets no consideration. I'm sneaking a child into the US or something. Which isn't even the case as she is going to school there and I will eventually move to Thailand fully retired.

Frustrating.

Thanks ,

Sorry, I was a bit confused with the your comment 'My official passport military which was a bit smudged from travel rain, but it could be read.' and later 'I explained to him I had a civilian passport, military and every time the ship came in we didnt do immigration, you just leave the ship.' It is unclear what your status is, US miltary, reserve, civilian on naval vessel, etc..

I hope you get it sorted out.
