PiR2 (Pi R Square). This will give you the area within the circle.

2PiR (2 times Pi time R) will give you the circumference. 2 PiR = Circ.

Pi is approx. equal to 3.1416.

If circumference of circle is 10 meters 2 PiR = Circ, 2 PiR = 10 meters

First you have to figure out the radius then multiply that by to to get diameter.

to get that ... 10 must be divided by 2Pi or 10 divided by 6.2832

Result for R or radius is 1.5915

To get diameter - multiply Radius by 2 or 1.5915 * 2 = 3.1830 meters

my math is rusty. please check.

Pi is 22/7, so there isn't any exact answer, but you can get close enough depending on your tolerances.

Pi is not 22//7. Pi is an irrational number, which means that you can't make a fraction of it with 2 integers.

That's true but I remember in high school when we used slide rules that was what we were told to use. Yes, slide rules do date me. biggrin.png

I think they are still not allowed.

However when I did my GCSEs they were allowed - I remember writing all the formulae on the inside of the cover in pencil.
