Satellite Radio

Featured Replies

Anyone know where you can purchase a satellite radio in chiang mai

Did you check if you can actually recieve the satellite you are intrested in Thailand ?

I use a Logitech revue/Google TV box and a internet radio. Not want for anything.

If you bought apple TV you have free acess to hundreds and hundreds of online stations....

If you don't need to be spoonfed technology like Apple users, you've had free access to hundreds and hundreds of online stations for a lot longer than Apple jumped on the bandwagon...

I did not buy apple TV for the radio stations, but for the HD movies that I can rent and watch instantly on my 60 inch plasma.  Not everyone is a key neow farung that only downloads bit torrents when they want to see a movie, taking days to do so.  Apple TV has a lot of features, so if you do not have one, then you are really in no position to comment on it.

I don't recall suggesting that you bought yours for the radio. But if you couldn't watch HD movies on your 60" plasma before Apple tv came along, you illustrate my point perfectly.

I don't need to own one to know it does precisely nothing, that people haven't already been doing for years.

Of course, by "days" you mean minutes, right?

Get an Android smart phone (or an iphone) and download an app called Tunein , it has nearly all radio stations on it, you can also record up to 8 hours at a time. It's excellent.

Hear Hear! Good suggestion re: Apple TV. It's a simple "satellite radio like "solution for the home. There are Apps for phones that are good portable solutions like Rdio. I have Apple TV as well as a Sonos System at home. Both give me hundreds if not thousands of music stations to listen to including broadcast stations from all over the world. Yes, it's a spoon fed solution that works great.

Sky app is phenomenal! On my ipad I use Tunepro. Both excellent.

And I don't recall saying that I could not watch HD movies on my plasma before I bought Apple TV. So I am not sure what point you are referring to exactly.

The point to which I was referring are that Apple users typically need to be spoonfed technology, which the more technically inclined have had access to for many years. Personally I have no problem with that, with the exception of when they start preaching "Apple" like it's the first, the only or the best solution and especially when they imply that non Apple fanatics are stingy or ignorant.

My first touchscreen tablet was an IBM Thinkpad, many years before Apple's iPad. My first touchscreen telephone was an HP iPaq PDA - many years before Apple's iPhone. And I've lost count of the number of media players I've had over the years, most of which were capable of playing internet radio stations.

For the OP - Apple TV is certainly an option, it's by no means the only option. Pay no attention to the "stingy" and "ignorant" comments leveled at non Apple disciples, there are plenty of options as alternatives to satellite radio (which I'm not sure you can even receive in Th) - Apple tv is only one of them.
