Thai Passport "Inventory Control Number"

Featured Replies

Is there such a thing as an "Inventory Control Number" on aThai passport?

Apparently, it might also be referred to as a Passport Book Number.

Or passport number, not to be confused with the personal ID-number.

I'm looking at my kids' Thai passports right now, and see there is a Passport Number, top right on the ID page as well as in the perforations.

There is also an "Identification" number which is different, and since they're too young to be issued the normal Thai ID card, assume it's unrelated to that.

And finally along the bottom is the OCR strip, composed of a passport number followed by "1THA" then date of birth, sex and a long number after that.

Nothing about inventory anywhere I can see, but maybe one or the other - most likely the last OCR one is referred to that way in the gov. computer system internally?

Yeah, they ask the question on my GF's tourist visa application. It asks the I.D. number, the passport number, and the Passport Inventory Control number. The first two are mandatory, the third can be checked N/A.

I don't think there is one on a Thai passport. I can find nothing one way or the other when researching. But I'd hate to check N/A, pay $140, go to 16 hours to BKK, then have an official whose wife is po'ed with him that morning turn down her visa, because the application is "incomplete."

But, what can you do?

Perhaps if the passport hasn't actually been issued the PIC can be used to verify that it's in process?

I'd say you're OK if the form states N/A is an acceptable answer. . .
