February 11, 200818 yr I like the new stuff - anything done after the 1920's is good by me tlw classic rock final countdown 60
February 11, 200818 yr Somehow I can just not imagine that song with the word 'beverage'. Next time I am in the Margarita Bar in Patong, I will ask the wonderful band (excellent band - experts after having sung the same repertoir of about 30 songs every night for the past four or five years) to swap the word 'spirit' for 'beverage' when they sing Hotel California. Won't that throw the cat (not you Patsy) amongst the sole surviving pigeon! Go on ask them Ping just to experiment. See what happens when they get there and have to sing a 2 syllable 'bevridge' to make it work. Ya see, I have thought this through!
February 11, 200818 yr From memory of Ping's post they are farung they will probably carry it off - a Thai band will probably pronounce it "beberid" tlw translitteration
February 11, 200818 yr Well I will, but I think they'll ask me where my minder is... don't think they will understand the expression 'I am on evening release from Bedlam'. E: I keep forgetting that pesky LW. Since I think the band will be bemused (more likely confused) by my request, that is TLW. You'll have to wait for a while for the report of the outcome though - I am not back over there until May. Edited February 11, 200818 yr by Ping
February 11, 200818 yr We will wait with bated breath! And some of us are masters of bated breath... The last word in baited breath Listerine
February 12, 200818 yr Is bated breath cold, hot or indifferent ?unsure...TLW As long as you dont have dog breath Pedigree Chum - TLW
February 12, 200818 yr So here I am, standing at the front of the queue waiting for the 1000th post to wander along. I have had my bed moved from the irredeemable nutters' ward to the last post ward in preparation. I shall have the last word! Ping TLW

Ditto In fact, I don't know anyone who does say beh-ver-idge ..... except possibly Brian Sewell, but I don't know him, so don't care.
February 12, 200818 yr I shall have the last word! I doubt it, especially when a couple of contributors to this thread have the ability to modify, delete and close. I'd put money on CB, but I don't think that JD will let him have it ....... have to watch out for Boo too. Wager ...... TLW

February 12, 200818 yr So the smart money is on a Mod or Admin? CB, you may be Toasted (or even PPd)! Edited February 12, 200818 yr by Ping
February 12, 200818 yr They'll have to push me out of the way, though. Foot's already in the door... Resilient TLW

February 12, 200818 yr KO made an appearance, said TLW belongs to him and then left without appending a LW.Incomplete TLW Gotcha! February 12, 200818 yr 38 to go. Perhaps we can persuade CB to let it ride through to 2000 - that would be a LW worth having! Patience TLW E: My mistake - Jock's thread. That's the end of that thought then. Edited February 12, 200818 yr by Ping
February 13, 200818 yr Ok gotta fess up - I have no desire nor intention of closing the last word at 1000 or indeed at any number. This may be a silly thread and annoys quite a lot of members but it is fun. Where it can get to be a problem is that the number of posts can make it a very large file. tlw roll on to 2,000 posts. CB
February 13, 200818 yr CB do you think I came down in the last shower? You want me to pack up my belongings and abandon the queue so that you can jump into my spot for the lucky 1000th! No chance... Queued-up TLW

CB How about this. As nobody is going to go back and read every page, When it gets to 1000, delete the first 500. And every time thereafter it hits the 1000 do the same? Just an idea...
February 14, 200818 yr I have just gone down the back lane to the archives building and spoken to old Dustley (the records keeper). He mumbled something about the requirement for retention of business records. I had to bump him a quid to replace the padlock.
February 14, 200818 yr There are 32 posts left to get to the magic 1,000. Since I am queuing-up for it, I will not be able to post much elsewhere, so hopefully can make the 1,000th LW post coincide with my 2,000th. (Not much of a landmark for my postcount, given the post rate of some of the other inmates, but it would be a nice coincidence of events.) Doppleganger TLW
