Child Overstay

Featured Replies

We are here on B and O visas with extension of stay and re-entry passes but never bother to do these documentation for our small child (expensive, need to take out of school to go to immigration, etc). When we went on a trip last time he got an overstay stamp in passport, child returned under visa waiver system, no problem. At one point would it be weird to have too many overstay stamps and could the child upon return be denied entry even though parents documentation is ok?

Children under 14 do get an overstay stamp in their passport but are not fined.

I know that but the issue is we are clearly returning to stay on longer term basis. Immigration sees parents have the proper visas and re entry permit, child not. They don't care because there is no fine?

Immigration is not going to give any problem if below 15 - but return without onward travel could be an issue with airlines as child requires a visa for entry if beyond visa exempt time.

hello.

I have the same situation, My husband and I are on a non-B and non-O but my children ages 12 & 13 are 5 months overstay, I know that they will not be fined and will just get a stamp for overstaying upon exiting the country. My question is: what about traveling around Thailand via airplane with overstay, will this pose a problem?

No, at domestic flights it is not checked. You will not meet immigration and airlines do not check.

Thanks Mario :)

I suggest that although the child does not need to pay overstay fine a parent should still get proper visas and/or extensions of stay for the child. There could always be problems that could arise with schools and etc. if this is not done.

The cost of getting a single entry non-o visa is 2000 baht (for first extension only) and an extension of stay is 1900 baht which is a small amount to pay for peace of mind. If traveling then it would be an additional 1000 baht for a re-entry permit.
