Chalerm lambasts move to probe his Rolls Royce

Why buy it from Singapore? Taxes for luxury cars are more than Thailand.

Doesn't make the slightest sense. Buy in Europe for a 10th of the cost of Singapore.

So he bought a heavily taxed vehicle only to import to a country with similar luxury car tax.

Do not think these people are stupid, because they are not especially when it comes to money.

If it was never registered in Singapore, or registered exploting whatever appropriate Signaporean tax-elusion method, then it would come to a price possibly even better than in Europe.

What I would like to know is where dearest Chalerm got the money to buy these cars? What's his salary as a Pol.Col or whatever?

100k THB a month does not afford you a Bentley. Even at a discount.

Oh, how I wish some one could do a Thomas Beckett.

Make no mistake, this guy is way worse than Mr. T.

No, he just LOOKS way worse - especially from doing a lot of Thaksin's dirty work to keep his sons out of jail.

Do you really believe he paid anything for the Rolls, allegedly "purchased" from his son's Singaporean business partner?

I'm sure that as an ex policeman Chalerm wouldn't want to be involved in anything dishonest...

No. Of course not.

I'm sure if investigators follow the Singapore lead it will uncover more lies.

I just came across an interesting bit of news from the paper that cannot be mentioned. Chalerm, bless his soul, actually made the statement May 25 that if Thaksin is not home by the end of the year, Chalerm has asked to be beheaded.... And no I am not making this up, I think this guy actually has a loose screw. But anyway back to the subject, with Chalerm's beheading coming at the end of the year, there is no need for the DSI to spend a lot of time on his tax evading Rolls Royce, as it appears the situation will remedy itself....... Yipppeee !!!!

So they are going to probe the roller but what about his other cars?

The pink one and I understand he has at least 3 others which most probably come into the luxury class.

Then there are those owned by the 2 sons, cant see them driving Ladas.

Should check Chalerm's other 50 cars or so. All of them were financed by other business partners too. Not just from Singapore. I didn't know the police or government had such high salaries.

But you knew they had high society friends didn't you? biggrin.png

Same as with Jatuporn. He owns a large collection of expensive amulets. He told reporters that he doesn't know its value because they were kindly donated to him by his friends.

Could any of them be considered as bribes, or a means to influence Government policy. Do any have diplomatic plates from sundry countries linked to the fugitive, current criminal, former PM, coward?

Assuming that it really did come form Singapore, I would guess it was more likely via Singapore than from it. Probably just cross-docked or purchased tax free for export etc.

oooooooooow would be the story of the year if he got done,,,,i would have a heart attack,,,

From another example of how the Teflon clan were guilty, but then found innocent?

TIT. I just accept that these people are above THEIR laws.

And as usual, a defamation suit. Back in the classroom children - it's not fair!

When was the last time you saw an official in a major office here tried and convicted of ANY crime? It just does not happen. There is zero fight in the LOS, when it comes to crimes committed by the goombahs in high places, nor is there any fight against corruption. Zero. I happens in Malaysia, Indonesia, China, Vietnam, and Laos, but not in Thailand. Zero.

Yes I have noticed that over the years here, there is not a whole lot of punishment going on at the upper levels. China is to be admired for its lightning quick execution of corrupt officials. Would love to see that here, but am not holding my breath.....

All the top Chinese officals are super rich, it is only the lower level ones who seem to get stomped on if they make the country look bad. There is no serious cracking down on the hardcore criminals at the top in China.

"bought it for 26 million' followed by 'Rolls Royce which belongs to his sons Singaporean business partner', 'mortgaged them with a financial company', 'left them with me'.

So, a car our Dept. PM Pol. Captain Chalerm bought was only left with him as mortgaged to creditors? And this chap not only is a former Pol. Captain but he even has a doctor's degree in Law?

Maybe his doctors degree was bought, borrowed, stolen, or maybe someone left a couple of them with him?

There are drug-addled serial kilers with more credibility than Mr. Chalerm. His family is a disgrace to the rule of law in Thailand. The best part: he isn't even a good liar. Chalerm is a perfect example of the phenomenon in Thailand of bad liars. In a society where truth and honesty are considered as valuable as a Burmese migrant, many are incapable of actually telling a lie that is even remotely believable. Everytime Mr. Chalerm gets up to the microphone, he has a habit of spinning yarns that a four year-old could discredit. The best was his latest response to questions about the disappearance of a prominent government critic and Bangkok businessman. When asked about the disappearance, instead of expressing his condolences to the family and his concern for the man's safety, he basically said, "We didn't do it." Do what Chalerm?! What was done that you didn't take part in? I take comfort knowing that this guy would almost certainly end up in prison or dead were he to try to live in any other country on earth. Fortunately for him, he lives in Thailand, the world's hub of integrity.

The thing is, he really does believe he can fool all of the people all of the time. The arrogance is truly astonishing.

But, one day there may well be a reckoning.

I can't wait for the tumbrils to start rolling along Sukhumvit.

will DSI not question how he could afford that on his "normal" salary ?

That would open a whole can of worms. It might escalate into somebody asking what car Tarit owns and how he got the folding stuff to pay for it.

Corruption is so blatant and out in the open that I'm surprised that shagging in public is an offence.

I think the education thread answers that.

The usual Thai phenomenon. Start with the result then work backwards.

When anyone is born, the Thai education system ensures they are guaranteed a degree. Fortunately, ability isn't a requirement, just money to attend the places of learning.
