webfact
Thai man points pistol at Russian visitor in PhuketPHUKET: -- Vasiliy Tubaev, a visitor from Russia, had a gun pointed at his head by a Thai man, in what appeared to be a misunderstanding over a Thai woman in Phuket.http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=DMlMhV6B5coMr Tubaev came to Thailand and April 5 and rented an apartment in PK Mansion in Phuket Town, not far from Central Festival. After a month or so he got to know a Thai woman called Karn who lived in the same building and worked in an office on the ground floor.Mr Tubaev told The Phuket News’ Russian-language sister paper Novosti Phuketa that he knew she was “living with some guy” but that he was led to believe that the man was her brother. He had lunch with Karn and her colleagues a couple of times and then, on May 26, the girls invited him to go with them to Khao Lak.On June 5, however, Karn said they could no longer see each other. She would not say why.The very next day Mr Tubaev heard somebody knocking on his door and trying to open it. He didn’t unlock the door and the visitor went away. At about 3 pm there was again a knocking at the door. This time Mr Tubaev set up his camera and pressed the record button before opening the door. The man who came in produced a pistol, pointed it at the Russian and ordered him to his knees. He told Mr Tubaev to stay away from Karn, who he said was his wife, and to go back to Russia. He reinforced the message with several slaps to Mr Tubaev’s face and head, then put the gun to his forehead and pulled the trigger. The gun did not fire and the Thai man left.Mr Tubaev moved out of the building the same day and, two days later, reported the incident to the police. The Thai was arrested three days later. The Russian told The Phuket News that the Thai, who was not named, had offered his apologies and B10,000 compensation, but that he decided not to accept either. The case is now going through the courts. Mr Tubaev has now left Phuket.Police told The Phuket News the gun was a replica, and could not fire bullets. gl555
You know? You know? YOU KNOW! You listen me? You listen me! You know? It would have been less funny if he just slapped the guy around and shut up. Edited June 19, 2013 by gl555

Popular Post stevenl
Why did he set up video equipment before opening the door? He must have known something was up. And he is way too calm. He should have taken the 10,000 Baht and blamed the girl, she was the one fooling around. up-country_sinclair
Why didn't the Russian lock the door after the Thai guy (with a gun!) left?
Popular Post laurentbkk
I dont know if I should laugh or cry at that story .... such courage to hit someone on his knees , typical local "wanabee" though guy ... This is a disgrace and shame for Thailand, knowing the Russian tourists numbers is very high , such story will go around on Russian TV , not good for Phuket or Thailand in general.

Popular Post laurentbkk
Why didn't the Russian lock the door after the Thai guy (with a gun!) left? receive a few slaps on the face and a gun on your head and we will see if you will still have all the power to do what you are suppose to do . I guess that russian was scared to death , I would be too

Popular Post LivinginKata
That video clip looks like it was all set up. Who just happens to have a camera at the ready perfectly aimed at the door. Possible that he expected this and wanted the video evidence.

Yes, and the Russian's reactions were weird - totally accepting of what the Thai was telling him to do, although the gun was a bit of an incentive to comply. And when the trigger was pulled with the gun against his forehead, there was no reaction at all - no "Thank God that didn't go off!" All very unreal.

Then again, he took an big risk unless he knew before that the gun was indeed an replica.

It is all a setup, from both sides. The Russians reactions don't seem real, and the Thai guys anger also seems not real, looks much more like a bad actor. But why? Mr Tubaev moved out of the building the same day and, two days later, reported the incident to the police. The Thai was arrested three days later. then this would not make any sense. Otherwise it could have been an viral advertise for a new low cost movie, done in Phuket.

Popular Post pistachios
Setup? <deleted> are you all babbling about? Why would the russian ask a thai guy to slap him hard on the face, and then proceed to go to the cops to file an official complaint? Why would the thai guy accept to do that while being filmed? It doesn't make any sense. What makes sense is that a particularly horrible person was caught on tape. Russia is the land of dashcams, that explains why a Russian would think about turning on his cam before opening the door, at least much better than any of your ridiculous setup theories. I hope that thai scum will be punished accordingly. Edited June 19, 2013 by pistachios

Popular Post 8ighty1ne
i know how i reacted when a thai pulled a gun out of his car and proceeded kicked the shizz out of my truck for simply honking my horn (non-aggressively!).. i sat there. anyone with an ounce of sense will just comply and let them get on with it. anyone else reacted any differently when a gun has been turned on them?? i'm sure he opened the door to catch the scumbag in the act to do exactly what he planned on doing - pass it onto the police. who could've known he had a gun beforehand. fully doubt this is a setup, and my guess is anyone who thinks it is hasn't been here long enough Edited June 19, 2013 by 8ighty1ne

Maybe he should have moved out sooner.
