I have an 8 month old MacBook Air. If I’m in a Word document, and go make a cup of coffee long enough for the Air to go into sleep mode, bad things happen.

If I’ve been gone longer, say 15 minutes, it closes any open documents in progress, and any other windows. All gone when I bring it out of sleep. Nothing saved.

Is this normal? Can’t be.

Recently, when this happens, a window has popped up saying “STARTUP DISC IS FULL” which is odd because 40 GB out of 60 is available. The only program I have added is Office. I have few docs and maybe 1000 pics.

Yes, I know I can change sleep settings. But that fixes the symptom, not the problem, and I only have a few months of warranty left.

But, I hate to send it in for warranty work and lose use of it for a month or more, if anyone knows of a fix.

Anyone familiar with this glitch?

Oh, and while there has never been a “crash” in the Windows sense of the term, I have actually had windows pop up with a gazillion computer-uber-geek programming words and symbols, titled PANIC REPORT. I have a copy of it, if anyone knows about such things.

Thanks.

This sounds like you should extend the sleep mode and save the document before you go for coffee.

Rrecently in Chiang Rai I needed to repair my IPhone. The apple Store and the Apple Repair Center informed me that Apple did not allow Thailalnd to do any repairs and everything had to be sent to Singapore from Bangkok. Has anyone heard of this?

My IPhone got a little drunk and fell into the lake. I took it to a telephone repair station at the Chiang Rai Central Plaza and the guy replaced the battery and charging circuit in 30 minutes and it works fine. This saved me from waiting a long time with Apple. This is a good alternative to a long wait for Apple in Singapore.

Microsoft and Windows is ancient technology and can never catch up in the harware and sofware business. Windows is a lost cause except for those who are not knowlegdble of other options and willing to give in. I recommend for those who love virus and windows to hang in until you have enough money to up grade.

I've been hearing this Apple bigot nonsense for years. I find Windows 7 to be bullet proof at this point. I've never had a virus. Windows is running on something like 90% of computers. I will never buy an Apple computer. The premium you pay is ridiculous. I do love my iPad and iPhone though.
