I'm moving to Chiang Mai in a couple of weeks and I'm wondering if anywhere sells dried mixed herbs - like you would use in a pasta sauce?

I looked in Tesco and Markro when I was last there but could see any. They are very light so if they are not available I will bring some with me but I'm hoping I can get them there.

I looked for it recently in BKK and mixed herbs were hard to find but all the incrediants were available and it was cosiderably cheaper to buy a large container. Macro has them ; I thought about bringing some in with me bext time although it could be mistaken by an ossifer of the cutoms department as an illegal herb.

Bought my last " Mcormick Italian Seasonig" at Tesco. Hard to find where I live so I usually by a lot when they have it. As said most of the spices are available in individual continers.

Thanks for the replies. I did try Makro and Tesco but couldn't see it there. Sounds like availability varies so maybe I was there when they were simply out of stock. I may have to try doing it with individual herbs, I see some experimentation in my future!

(I didn't think about customs getting the wrong idea about mixed herbs!)

When I say I looked, I mean that I saw some one day as I was going through Tesco's spice and herb selection so bought some. I was not actually looking for it at the time and have not done since because it lasts so long. I generally bring my own herbs etc. back with me when I go overseas or have friends bring them for me when they visit. I'm off to the UK in just under a week and shall be returning with a few bits including smoked Hungarian sweet paprika.

I've never had a problem obtaining them in Tesco or Macro, but as another alternative, in Wororot Market there is a magic little Indian spice and herb shop - an absolute lifesaver for Indian etc cooking!

Whilst I've never tried him for mixed herbs - as I say, I've never had a problem buying them - I've found that he is also very good for lots of non-Indian stuff. I've used him as a last resort merchant a number of times and have never been disappointed.

3 different Makros I use regularly in Bangkok all have an excellent range of herbs. I buy big bags of them and they last for months. Surely Makro in CM had these?

As I've said twice above, I looked in Makro and didn't see them. Not saying they don't have them but I looked and didn't see them the time I went in there.
