Serial Posters. No Life Outside Thai Visa ?

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

Just checked in on "general topics", and of the 25 topics on the first page, more than 10 of them had the same poster as last replier.

Not having a go at this specific poster, most of his post are well above the average level here. What I am wondering, is did people come to Thailand to spend their entire time at the keyboard?

I know it is free/cheap entertainment, but so is a walk to the local market! thumbsup.gif

I'm guessing that you wrote the above on your keyboard after spending time reading Thai Visa

Some people work online and take a break from work on Thaivisa. At least that is my reason for my high post count.

Everybody his/her own.

Internet sucks, whatever you do for many it became a serious addiction. People addicted to forums have lack of social life, and since most Thai gfs are pretty useless for a good discussion not hard to understand why TV meets a need !

Walking to the local market is dangerous in this country.

Better stay on the sofa and post to TV.

Whoever told you that was a party pooper !

With over 1,000 posts I'm sure you've spent many hours on this site at one time or another. I'm not saying you post all day, every day, but you obviously post enough that you find it an enjoyable experience. I think it's fair to reason that some people might have a really active day or week, and then not post again for a couple of weeks.

It's easy to get carried away into a discussion. I've been on all day today. I've never done that before.

I used to duck home for 'lunch'. But that was before the days of the internet.

As the obsessive-compulsive to whom the OP undoubtedly refers, mea culpa squared.

For various reasons, mostly self-inflicted I'm currently in a position where this is my main entertainment. Will shortly be off to the next stage of my many and varied lives so far, hopefully get my stuff together so won't be here so much.

But I will try to remember to keep you posted on the ongoing saga as things develop, probably positive since they don't give much online time at the Bangkok Hilton.

Certainly healthier than watching the other kind of TV anyway.

560 posts in 6 days!! OMG! You must take your laptop to the crapper....I have little more than half that and still feel as if this takes up too much of my time. Each their own I guess....How is the back rent/landlady issue coming??

Could the moderators please move this to the Agoraphobic forum?

Until you can't pay the rent.

I agree, sad to see all those no lifers spending all day on TV :(

Same here. I'm online about 18 hours a day and on call for the other 6 hours. Any diversion is welcome.

Besides, not all posters on TV are actually in Thailand at the moment.

Why do people do it? For most it is a psychological Disorder. Similar to those that require "likes" via FB or other social media. Nothing wrong with it, but for some people it is a way of receiving virtual empathy and as they lack this in the real world it makes them "feel better". It is not whether the people actually like you, but more so that they are getting a response or that people are "listening" to them.

Much in the same way people like to be heard or have to be heard during an argument or discussion. Human nature. Some people can control this or are in no need of or seeking reaffirmation of their thoughts or words (ie virtual world).

As such we have people who "need" to get the last word, those that have the "best" answer for a situation, those that try to respond with a witty reply, those that respond in a derogatory manner which only goes to show their ignorance, and so on.

As for myself...many times I have posted a reply never to go back to the discussion as I am lazy or forget what I have posted. So for any posters who have replied to something I have said ...my apologies for my laziness...but it is just not that important to me.

There are many articles on this phenom....just google "The Power of Like".

ran out of likes

I'm in the pub waiting for a mate to arrive.....and Sri Lanka are a disgrace. :D

witty reply...witty reply....smokie, you got one ??

Some of us have spare time on our right hand between getting out of bed on a morning and going to the pub in the evening giggle.gif

And the tv is out of bounds as that is hogged by the g/f. blink.png

I'm off for being too prolific and a beer or two awaiteth me now her ladyship has finished with the shower, make-up and the rest.

Rubberduck, for god's sake hold back. Spreading the truth around is not without danger. The fact, that Thai-Girls are useless for a conversation is a well kept secret and you should not spread it around.

There are members that pride themselves with over 20'000 posts. At the rate I am going, I will have to reach the age of about 195 to achieve this desirable goal.smile.png

Cheers.

Although Thai girls never seem to run out of things to talk to each other about.

Yes, I am also wondering why they like to work for free for others, are they rich enough already ?

By posting all day they could make a lot of tax free money with some advertising accounts opened in Thailand and they don't even need a work permit :-)

People are weird !

If you are the only farang in the village then Thai visa is a good place to visit for some old fashioned banter and humor that is lost on most Thai's.
