Hi TV,

Didn't know to put this in general or Bangkok but iam asking about Bangkok specifically. What is the going monthly salary for Thais in the following positions? And what are the standard hours/days of work.

Looking for more personal answers maybe some of your friends may be in the game or you have some personal insight. General surveys and discussion on expat boards seem to lowball figures so some insightful answers would be welcomed:

> Personal assistant, decent English, moderate work experience.

> Fully qualified pharmacist being employed by a private pharmacy. Work experience not required.

> Pharmacists assistant under above mentioned pharmacist.

> Driver (own vehicle not required) longest standard legal hours allowed.

> General shop assistant (packing, supervised stock take, some cleaning etc).

Thank you.

B24-28K, lots higher if your definition of "decent" is any more than low-to-moderate.

rest assuming the above was the only position with any English required

don't know probably lower than above

> Driver (own vehicle not required) longest standard legal hours allowed.

B16-20K, give a per-diem boost for long hours spent actually driving as opposed to hanging around waiting.

> General shop assistant (packing, supervised stock take, some cleaning etc).

a bit more than minimum wage?

Note these are low-end, a lot depends on the company, a large company with good benefits and opportunities for advancement can attract candidates at lower salaries. And of course your recruitment methods, having to advertise "cold" rather than working through an extensive personal network of contacts raises the rates required.

And even though working for foreign management should in theory attract more candidates, reality is you have to pay more to make the trouble worth it, even if other conditions are better than a straight Thai company.
