I am still not able to get this to work ,

I turned off call screening , its is not forwarding to any number ,

I tried to add a voicemail greeting which needs to call back and that did not go thru ,

When it tries to call you back what do you see / hear ? is it a pop-up , a phone "ringing" or ????

I do have a pop-up blocker but it does not show a block ,

Does it matter that I am using Internet Explorer 8 ?

thanks again.....

^ I confess I only use Google Voice via GrooVeIP, and have never used it on/with a PC. I also mainly use it on WiFi, but have used it on 3G a few times - I have the paid version of GrooVeIP.

I keep thinking about getting an Obi100 - given how inexpensive they are, but I already have a magicJack at home. IMO, Google Voice is much better than mJ given the SMS options, and speech to text for vmail.

For me, Google Voice + GrooVeIP is brilliant. I've transitioned a lot of contacts from mJ to GV. I'd gladly pay for GV.

FWIW, there is another GV ATA that looks interesting: GVMate.

I just read that Groove.IP will no longer be allowed to use Google voice as of May 5.. What will we use then?

I believe the actual date for Google cutting off the functionality that 3rd parties like Groove IP use is May 15, 2014 -- not May 5.

But, in any event, Groove IP hasn't posted anything new on their site or Facebook page about any potential workarounds. And their customers have been asking, but no answers forthcoming as yet.

There are many options for calling. It's just a question of what ones are going to end up being the most advantageous post May 15. And I don't think we know that yet. Still three months to go.

I just noticed, there's recently been an update on GrooveIP's Facebook page re them having selected a new "provider" to replace Google Voice and a new beta app coming from them soon. Sounds like the new provider is going to involve issuing new phone numbers, but with the ability to forward current Google Voice numbers to the new provider. Not clear at all what kind of cost structure there's going to be for the future app and/or the future provider.

Meanwhile, I believe it still remains unclear just how much of Google Voice phone calling capability, if any, Google's going to end up porting into a future version of Google Hangouts. Things are a bit in flux, so to speak.

Sorry for the lack of status updates, I should have posted this earlier. We've selected a new provider and have been working on updating GrooVe IP. There should be a public beta available late March or early April.

New service won't directly use Google Voice. But you can forward your Google Voice number to the number you get from our new service. You'll also be able to have your Google Voice number show as the caller id if you dial your Google Voice number, press 2, enter the number you want to dial, press pound. We're also going to support porting numbers in. But that may not be ready in May.
-------------------------------------------------
what we're doing is a lot more work than simply using the WebRTC api's would be. Based on conversations with Google, my understanding is that there is NO publicly available API for Google Voice. And any method to make and receive calls through Google Voice will be viewed as violating the Google Voice terms of service. Is it technically feasible? Yes. But it's not something we will do.
-------------------------------------------------
Still working on pricing details. Should have more information in the next week or two.

Most of us expect Google to integrate Google Voice into Hangouts, hopefully before the May 15, 2014 date. If they don't then I'd hope they'd allow apps. like GrooVeIP to continue to function until such time as GV works in HO?

Press reports in the past week mention that Google will/may "kill" GV, which would suck if we were to lose our telephone number(s). I'm guessing we'll have an option to retain our ten digit numbers, albeit for a small annual (~ $12 ?) fee, or be given the opportunity to port out.

Another recent update from SNRB Labs, the makers of the GrooveIP app... And I guess the upshot is, existing GrooveIP users should NOT uninstall the existing Google Voice-linked app, even though the current version is likely to stop working come mid-May.

Because, it sounds like they're going to be updating the existing app via automatic Google Play Store updates to work with the new non-Google Voice system they're going to be putting up by mid-May. And they're promising continued free U.S. and Canada calling -- but no details yet on what provider and what kind of arrangements.

we've been working on an update for GrooVe IP to move away from Google Voice. Our goal has been to try and keep the service as close to free as possible. So I'm happy to say, due to some new agreements we've made, we believe we'll be able to offer 100% free incoming and outgoing calls to the US and Canada. We'll also support creating a new US phone number or porting over an existing number. Porting will not have any charge from us.

Ultimately, things should work similar to how they do with the existing app. Unfortunately, SMS will not be completed in the first release. But will be added shortly after. Also, it looks like we won't be doing a public beta like we previously thought we would. Both GrooVe IP and GrooVe IP Lite will be updated before the May 15 deadline to move to the new service.

________________________________________

Update will be available via the Play Store and Amazon App Store. Free meaning no cost, no credits, unlimited minutes. Don't have a timeline on SMS. Once we release the update the main focus will be bug fixes. After that SMS will be the first feature added.

________________________________________________

you can forward your Google calls to the new GrooVe IP number you get. Or you can port the number. Choice is yours. We won't be able to support number spoofing, but I believe there's a way to make a call so your Google Voice number shows up. There is a fee we're being charged but we believe we can cover it. The new app will use sip and not xmpp, but we will only allow connecting through GrooVe IP. You'll be able to port or create a new number from within the app.
