Intellectual Property Rights Violations at South Pattaya IT Center discussed at meeting

PATTAYA:--Vendors from the popular Tuk.Com IT Center situated on the South Pattaya Road and officers from the Chonburi Intellectual Property Rights Violation Unit attended a meeting at conference room 401 at Pattaya City Hall on Monday to discuss together the problems at the Center and claims by Police of persistent offending.

Acting as mediator was Police General Chalermkiet, Deputy National Police Commissioner who understands that the sale and production of counterfeit branded items is a big problem in Thailand.

In Pattaya the Tuk.Com IT Center in South Pattaya has been designated a “Red Zone” which means it is the worst place in the city for intellectual property rights violations and constant Police raids appear not to be affecting the trade in such items as demand, especially from foreign tourists is strong enough to make vendors take a chance and continue trading despite fear of further Police Raids.

And who's complaining?

The original creators of the software or the Chinese who spent many hours finding weaknesses in the software passwords to prevent piracy by developing cracks and other widgets to bypass anti-piracy security so they could mass produce DVD's only to find their work copied by the Thais?

....and many of the original products are produced for a pittance by virtual slave labour so the creators/designers can charge high retail prices and pocket large amounts of money! Buy counterfeit! It will help in bringing prices down - something that the property rights owners could do themselves if they weren't so greedy and made a FAIR profit!
