The clipboard is a temporary storage location. What you have "copied to the clipboard" can be pasted somewhere else by selecting the location where you want to paste it and keeping your finger/pen on the screen till the "paste" command pops up. Copying anything else will overwrite what's currently on the clipboard.

Having difficulty editing my previous post, which is based on my android operating system. For windows mouse-based systems the "paste" command is accessed via a right mouse click.
