People want quality but do not want to pay for it, it does not work this way.

It might surprise you to know that the price of a cup of coffee does not increase for better quality beans. What it does mean is that the shop using those cheap, nasty beans, is reaping higher profits from the likes of those drinkers who don't know the difference between crap and quality.

The following pic is the price list for coffee at Benjamit, an establishment where those who enjoy quality go to drink.

Here is an enlargement of their prices in case you can't see them from the previous pic.

Now, here is the price list for coffee at the coffee shop inside Areca Lodge.

Areca Lodge coffee is horrible. Definitely not recommended, yet their prices are way above those charged by specialist coffee outlet.

Compare these prices to what you like to pay at Starbucks and please inform me of the difference. I wouldn't waste my time or money walking into Starbucks ever again so I'll be guided by your answer.

You might also inform what they charge for a cup of luke warm milk, because this is all you get when you pay for a cup of coffee from them.

I won't criticise your taste in coffee further as I understand that this is your "personal taste."

Coffee drinkers should expect quality irrespective of their personal taste. Whether you like your coffee strong or whether you like your coffee weak is personal choice and any good barista can serve you a weaker tasting coffee still using the best quality beans. BUT, a good barista can never serve you a strong, superior cup of coffee using poor quality beans.....unless he skimps on the volume of milk or dusts it with chocolate powder to disguise the horrible taste.

Coffee and coffee machines are more expansive in Thailand than the West, so if you want to have a really good cup, be prepared to pay up to 150 baht, but in most cases if you do pay 150 baht, many would be whining about the price.

Anyone paying more than 50bht for a coffee needs their head examined.

My local coffee shop sells locally grown organic coffee for 30bht (hot) or 35bht (iced).

(the coffee machine originally cost 60kbht, if that's important)

Bt.60,000 is pretty cheap for a coffee machine, do you know what the make and model are as I wouldn't mind one for home............hope I can train the missus to multitask and both mop the floor and make coffee.

I asked you to compare the prices shown in the pics with those charged by Starbucks, a large chain coffee outlet also mentioned by you. You failed miserably and now want to redirect the discussion away from your previous, ridiculous claims.

In some of your previous posts in this thread, you made certain claims about Thai employees and the wages that should be paid to them. I didn't dispute or argue against any of your claims because I don't own a business in Thailand and I have no experience with the Thai wage structure. I therefore accepted your claims as being reasonable.

It was noted that some other posters took your claims to task, and now, in view of some of the misguided beliefs you seem to have regarding quality and prices etc. I find it difficult to take anything you write seriously.

I think we can all conclude that you know absolutely nothing about what constitutes quality coffee.

I don't know whether or not you are a heavy smoker. If you are, then that might account for why your taste buds aren't functioning accurately.

Perhaps you might like to also claim that McDonalds produce quality hamburgers just because you happen to enjoy the taste.

Yes coffee prices depend on quality, if someone is using home grown crap or Nescafe beans, naturally it will not taste and cost same as Terra Nerra or Kopi Luwak, Common sense really

OP if you still around, to make you feel better, this month i have had 8 calls, 4 showed up for interview. Out of 4, one started to demand the working hours she wants, the other made an ultimatum of hours she would work, third could not string 3 words in English and the fourth did not show up to start work.

And i am offering above the minimum wage.

So stay tough, its not only you, but a common problem across the country, irrespective of what some experts on TV like to think or post.

Personally, i have not had a day off for over 5 years now and have been doing 15 hour days/7 days we per week for past 7 months

I will never pay a coffee more than 50 Thb because anyway no shop explains why its coffee costs more than 50 Thb.

Explain me that you grow your organic coffee in your garden and that the quality is the best available in the world and I might pay more but it seems that no coffee shop owner is smart enough to do this. They just copy each other and do coffee without knowing anything about coffee, so I just wish them all to close as quickly as possible.

With the work ethic of some Thais and the relative unemployment rate being so low in Thailand, you may consider bringing in some Filipinas to meet the need. More than enough pinays that would jump at the chance and you could likely pull college graduates that would jump at the chance. Just saying.

Look in classifieds, seeking job sections. Filipino cleaners wanting 15K per month.

Keep in mind they do not have proper visa's and do not have WP ie no different to Burmese and Cambodians who are paid half the Thai salary.

Now i am not saying they should be slave labor, but asking double the Thai salary is little out of line, do not you think? especially when you illegal
