Thida to resign to pave way for Jatuporn
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Thida Thavornset plans to resign as the chairwoman of the United Front of Democracy against Dictatorship to pave the way for Jatuporn Promphan to lead the red-shirt movement, red-shirt leaders said Monday.

Pheu Thai MP weng Tojirakarn, who is Thida's husband, said Thida expressed her wish to resign during the assembly of the UDD over the weekend.

Weng said Thida said Jatuporn should become the new leader of the UDD because he has been left out of the Yingluck Cabinet during the last three reshuffles despite speculation that he would be given a position.

Thida told the assembly that Jatuporn is qualified to lead the red-shirt movement, weng said.

According to Weng, Jatuporn agreed to accept the post but said he would need a few months to assess the political situation, He also has a health problem that needs to be cleared up before taking up the position.

Weng said Thida would remain in the position and was scheduled to complete her term in February next year.

"She will resign before completing her term to pave the way for Jatuporn," weng said.

Samut Prakan MP Worachai Hema, a red-shirt leader, said all the UDD members agreed that Jatuporn should be the next leader and would be able to cope with the current political situation, which has seen the red-shirt movement pushed into a corner.

Worachai said a new election for the UDD leader would be held soon.

"Since Jatuporn has lost his hopes of winning a Cabinet seat, everyone wants him to lead the people's democratic army. From now on, the UDD will be more active and hold rallies around the country," Worachai said.

The UDD leaders will hold a meeting at 1pm on Tuesday to discuss the UDD chairmanship. They are expected to reach a decision, which will be announced at a press conference at the Imperial World Lat Phrao on Wednesday.

"all the UDD members agreed that Jatuporn should be the next leader" sounds a lot better than Thaksin said.

Can any body enlighten me as to how one becomes a member of the UDD, the annual fees, when and where meetings and votes are held - or does the Democracy part of this group only exist in its name?

The fee is 500 baht a year.

Where do you want the money paid?

Putting Jatuporn in charge, could be a problem. Thiad and Wong are CT, and support people. Jatuporn is a hit man for Big Brother. Lets see if the government can protest the freedom of speech of non Red Shirt people, Will the BIB do their jobs or in the past support the Red Shirts. Cry havoc and release the dogs of war. ph34r.pngph34r.png

He also has a health problem that needs to be cleared up before taking up the position.

I'm sure this can cleared up by placing a small amount of lead in his ear...even a very small amount, they say .22 would cure him for ever whistling.gif

Could get interesting when two dissapointed people, Jatuporn and Chalerm, join forces.

Don't forget Chuwit! The three masterminds with their new party "Rak Thailand toooo much"

I have no doubts that the health problem in question refers to his mental state.

Its nice to see such concern and the UDD striving for such fairness in this topesy turvey, mixed up country. Now if I can make another suggestion, have him travel to North Korea, for educational purposes, until his moment of glory arises. Be sure and visit the tailors who fit and decorate the military uniforms for them, so he is dressed the part that he will assume.Make sure he has back up swagger sticks to complete his role in this make believe game.

Now the peaceful protestors have discarded all pretence and become an army, that would be the red army and make Jatuporn a General.

Jatuporn agreed to accept the post but said he would need a few months to assess the political situation

Why does he not already know the "political situation", has he not been listening, taking notice of what is going on in the country?

Or does that mean he has to go see the big boss first to see what he wants?

From now on, the UDD will be more active and hold rallies around the country," Worachai said.

With their Govt in power what are they going to be rallying for or against?

Of course, against anyone else who wants to speak like the Dems or white masks.

Go red democracy.

A very sound reason for selecting a new leader. Surely after this from Dr. weng telling us what his wife said regarding a successor to her in this United Front for Dictatorship against Democracy, the first price can no longer escape k. Jatuporn

Can anyone think of other countries where those three words (the ones in bold) have been and are used? Usually where democracy does not exist.

Like "The people's Democratic Republic of .........."

Mind you, Thailand has a 'Democratic' government

Can a democratic government be formed by a political party that is far from democratic?
