do you have any banyan (ficus) trees in your garden?

i would like to ask a small favor. i'm into bonsai at the moment and one of the best tropical bonsai trees is the Chinese Banyan (ficus microcrapa) or Tiger Bark Ficus (ficus redusa), in Thai they are called ต้นไทร dtohn sai

if anyone has one in their garden and it needs a trim, please let me know. i can get the cuttings to propagate and often it's possible to find really nice shapes on older trees (about 2-4" diameter branches) than on trees in the plant shops.

here are a few photos so you know what to look for. the distinguishing features are the ariel roots and oval leaves, usually about 3-4cm long. ideally 10-30 year old trees would be best, the giant 100 year old trees you see with the Buddhist bands around are not so good for cuttings.

thanks, steve

thanks, i sent you a p.m. about the other one, the one next door. i'd prefer to have a go at that if its still there. ones in parks may be off limits.

last night a huge banyan, probably over 100 years old, just a bit south of the circle where they have the sunday a.m. market, blew down in the wind. shame to see such a magnificent tree go but plenty of material for my bonsai project

I went to visit the orchid festival at Saphan Hin on Friday. They had some of the bonsai trees, which are quite valued.

The price of this one was 50.000B

While they also had smaller ones at 350B.
