student wear giant tags in shopping malls and streets

Featured Replies

i had noticed there are many students wearing a huge tags made of cardboard or some sort, any idea what is that? im guessing name tags but why are they wearing it when they are out in shopping malls, street markets etc

i could understand if they are needed to wear that in school but why is it so big and why do them wearing out of school as well? are they required to wear it at all times?

The new University year has just started.

For the first few weeks they wear name tags so all the class (and teachers) can see their names.

None of that 'what was your name again?'

Useful for us too

Nong Lek, Nong, Lek, kit khun suay mak, gin cow ru yang?

Striking up conversations with uni freshers, Thailand is a wonderful place.

So it's 'look at me I've started uni' ?

I'm hoping to lose my virginity , but for some reason it's not working.

It's one of the more silly "Hazing" rituals demanded of new Students by their "Seniors" at the start of the new University year.

I live next to Srinakarinviroj University in Soi Asoke, Bangkok and this nonsense goes on for a couple of weeks, I can't walk down the Soi without these Juniors being obliged to greet me with idiotic phrases - just part of the great Thai educational experience preparing them for their future role as Burger flippers.

Apparently you did lose your virginity, but some one found it and glued, nah cemented it back on ... such is life in Thailand!

.

Up here they also have to wear white shoes.

They'll eventually trade them in for a bull clip to take up the slack on their belts. You watch.

It is a form of Hazing.

Another Ugly American on the prowl...tsk tsk...

The tag has the name and address of the Uni they are attending, just in case they forget it over lunch.
