BANGKOK: -- The official governing body of the Redshirts movement warns the government under PM Yingluck Shinawatra that its supporters would turn against her if she allowed corruption and abuse of power, insisting that Redshirts are "objects" that could be easily controlled.

Russian tourist dies in ICU after fateful Phuket swim

PHUKET: -- The Russian tourist who was comatose after being pulled from the water at Karon Beach on June 23 died on Tuesday at Vachira Phuket Hospital.

PHUKET: -- A 20-year-old woman on the verge of moving from Phuket back home to Nakhon Sri Thammarat has been reported missing by her family.

Thai embassy on stand by to evacuate 2,000 Thais in Egypt
THE NATION

BANGKOK: -- Foreign Minister Surapong Towichukchaikul said Thursday that if necessary, the Thai embassy in Cairo would be prepared to evacuate Thai people living in Egypt.

He said there are about 2,000 Thais in that country and most of them are students, who are returning to Thailand during a school break.

Surapong advised the Thais to avoid areas of mass gatherings in order to reduce possible risks.

He added that there have been no reports any Thai has been harmed by Egypt's unrest.
