I am wondering how difficult this will be. I'm a foreigner married to a native Thai male. He is tour guide and self-employed. He doesn't have a company or sole proprietorship. Just a license from TAT (Tourism authority Thailand) allowing him to open a small office and run tours. If I wanted to work for him, doing the English language marketing side of things, how would we go about applying for a work permit? Thanks

If your married, you could start a 1.0 million capitalised limited company employ 2 Thai's and get your WP that way, on a sole prop not sure about that one, but believe it can be done

Not a short term solution but if you are staying look at citizenship.

It is soooooo much easier for a foreign woman married to a Thai guy than the other way round. Endless benefits too.

But quickly you need a thai company. Normally 2mill capital and 4 thai staff. If married only 2 staff needed...not sure if the capital is halved too or not.

yes you are correct , to give 1 work permit your company must be set up at 2 million baht not 1 million baht and as the poster says above you must have Thai staff what he failed to mention is that you will be required to pay social welfare for these staff (5% on a salary of 10,000 baht you would contribute 500 baht and the employee would contribute 500 baht from the salary total to be paid 1,000 per person)

Only 1 million is needed if married to Thai.

and course the THB 1.0 million is capitalisation in the company, not THB 1.0 million cash in the bank

Because the traditional expectation has been that the wife follows the husband and belongs (has reason to be) with him (in Thailand).
