Oh I hope TOT is better where you live then where we live. We had TOT for about 4 months and it disconnected about every 5 minutes. Finally 3BB came to our community and the service is much better. Still ADSL but at least it stays on. I don't understand why Thailand hasn't put in real cable.

I heard from one of my Thai friends that CTH which is selling cable tv service now is going to offer 50mbps internet on cable at a very low price soon. I hope that's true!

When & where to CTH start selling their service and begin there TV cable installation, I know several people particular farangs

who did contact CTH by phone in order to get installation matters moving, but CTH responds was > we don't know yet <.

What is known about it now ? ...

Seems that right now they don't offer internet on cable. But for the TV check their website out:

www.cth.co.th

It's mostly in Thai. But from what I understand they offer a promotion. If you order before 31 August, you can get one year free for a setup fee of 599 Baht. You can call them for more info.

Hard to grasp for some. If staying in BKK you are staying in a 3 rd -world country. If moving to the Isaan you are staying in a 4 th-world country. Flawless internet-connections? Give it some 10 years.

Instead of the Farang doing battle with the numerous "internet-providers", that provide nothing more than promises that they can not fulfill, why not let the Thai-Wife clarify the situation. She probably speaks better Thai than any Farang.

Not that she has to be an expert of any sort, as long as she can communicate in Thai-Language: NO SERVICE= NO PAY, will do the trick. Try it! It works!

Cheers.

Ozzydom, where abouts are you located?

6km from Sawang Daen Din
Hi. Didn't know you were back, will call in.

ok mate, we had our first drama a few days ago after a big electrical storm, woke up to no connection so rang ToT office to be told that many areas around Sawang had been fried, but help would be around asap.

24 hours later (a TOT record ) servicemen arrived to find a junction box some distance away had been cooked,30 minutes later they had me back on line,

Very pleased with the prompt service and result.

  • 2 months later...

Persistently waited 9 years deserves some kind of AWARD. I lived in the village 8 months w/out internet - used a dumb drive??? dongle thing. I was about to exit when we made another visit to TOT. After "tipping" the office worker Bt 1000 for her "overwhelming efforts to help us an internet line became available.

My hat is off to you. I would not have the enormous amount of patience you exhibited. PHEW I can no imagine.

Now I make amply sure my service is paid on time .... no delays.

Gratulations everyone; welcome to the 20th Century!smile.png

21st i think youl find sir,,,,,,,

No; it may be the 21st in other countries but when it comes to some things like customer service, internet, sanitation and education I really did mean to say: 'Welcome to the 20th century'...just amazes me to see the garbage truck crew tearing open each and every bag of trash and sifting through it. Don't want to get off topic here that is why I put the smiley face on the first post. Shucks; I heard they might even get 3G someday.

Most of the villagers know nothing a/b WWW. Hell I'd guess many don't even have refrigerators. AND you have garbage trucks? WOW. Now that will be the day when I see one near our village. Very interesting concept however and maybe it will be explored here in a decade or two. Currently I'm "tickled" w/ my TOT and pay a/b Bt700 of it... Not sure if I could live here w/out it.
