I have a friend who just received his new American passport, so the old one now has a hole punched in it. The old passport expires August 3 and when he received his last retirement visa extension, Immigration put a stamp in his passport, right under the extension stamp, saying to transfer the extension before August 3.

His next "excuse" to have contact with Immigration is for his next 90 day report, due August 23. Could he just wait until he does that 90 day report to transfer the extension or does it really have to be done before August 3.

It would be nice to combine both the extension transfer and the 90 day report into one trip to Immigration. Unfortunately, he's in Muang Chiang Mai and unable to mail-in his 90 day report, due to local restrictions.

He is overstay after August 3. He needs to make the extension transfer new that he has his new passport and before that time - only then will he receive any additional extension of stay time on the new stamp.

If he attempts to do his extension on 23rd August..he is on an overstay and obviously invaildated....needs to be done no later than 3rd August, as stamped by immigration, the date of his 90 day has nothing to do with his extension...

But he could try and do a new 90 day report at the same time saving him a double trip ? Although I know it is three weeks early but if you don't ask you don't get! Yes I know tit
