tomross46
The Thai authorities have stepped up security measures during the period. This will be interesting. During the month of Ramadan people fast during the day, from sun up to sun down. In the evening they eat and visit friends and relatives. If the security measure allow the peaceful observance of the holy month, no problem. If these measures do not let the people to follow their religious beliefs, then . Respect the people and they will respect you.
gl555
Well one thing about these people, they can blow children up but still find the time to fast and make good with their god. Good on them!
Mampara
Well one thing about these people, they can blow children up but still find the time to fast and make good with their god. Good on them! There is a old English proverb that says "The pen is mightier than the sword" but then Confucius added wise words to this proverb he said "but not when a fool is holding the pen"
soi41
"trying to collect fingerprints and DNA" This in a country, where you can become a social network hero, by stabbing a farang! But if you try to express your opinion, see that is a real crime !

It still doesn't change the fact that these animals blow people up and then show dedication to their Allah by fasting.

A lot of people, including Prime Ministers, have been proud to have their picture on a poster with convicted criminal Nelson Mandela.

squarethecircle
What kind of situation is this and where is this world heading on? Just couple of days ago, there was bomb blast in India in the Buddha temple and one terror group accept responsibility. Most of the countries on the planet - Thailand, China, India, Indonesia, Russia, the "west", Nigeria, etc. - are dealing with Muslim extremists trying to implement Islamic rule. They aren't given to reason and have no sense of humanity (after all, we "kafirs" don't surrender to the will of Allah and thus are expendable). They'll have to be defeated, appeasement won't work.

That conflict has nothing to do with religion. Those people are simply not ethnic Thais and have another culture and had their own kingdom in the past. thats why they speak of the "Siamese colonialists" They don't want conquer Thailand and implement Islamic rule here. antfish
Notice banners are not in Thai. I see clouds on the horizon. That is the whole point of it, they are not Thai. Thai language is not their mother tongue, they have their own language. they feel colonized because in the past they weren't part of the Kingdom of Siam. It might be a start for everyone to stop using the pejorative name of "kaek" which nicely means "visitor" for everyone down south. And you wonder why the don't quite feel part of the Siamese uber race.

Just couple of days ago, there was bomb blast in India in the Buddha temple and one terror group accept responsibility. The Indian Mujahedeen claimed the bombing was in response to the recent killing of Muslims by Burmese Buddhist nationalists. Luckily no one was killed and damage was minimal. Most of the time, there is a special interest of someone to make situation more imbalanced to gain benefit from it... I supposed.
