You should take a look at this website, I have heard very good reviews on them and they will ship to your home. Maybe you are already aware of them but if not here is the link.

I bought an external hdd from them a year or two ago. Very pleased with the prices, product, and service.

Do they still have those gangs of aggressive scumbags just inside the entrance, trying to sell porn DVDs to people in PantiP?

They're practically on every level, as you go up or down the escalators. Pantip is just a touristy IT mall for tourists from many countries that haven't figured out yet that there's more to Bangkok than just Siam, Paragon, MBK, Central World and Pantip.

Go to Fortune Mall, Zeer Rangsit, IT Mall Laksi, IT Mall Ngam Wong Wan, Bang Kae or any number of other similar places - I don't think Pantip sells anything you wouldn't be able to find in these other IT malls.

Anyway, I went to Fortune, much calmer experience. Found a shop selling Samsung monitors. They had a promotion on the NEW one I was offered at Pantip at a discount price of 5180 baht. These guys sold me them at 4290. I bought 2 plus a 500 Gb WD Elements portable hard drive for total of 10100 baht. Pretty sweet.

The model of monitor is the Samsung S23C350H - 23" full HD etc.

You may regret buying one with a high gloss finish.

My monitor is the S24B370 matt finish - no reflections.

Really is fortune town a better place to look around for electronic stuff, i never knew that i stay right next road to fortune town, i believe its the same1 , rama 9 , near central...

Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Yes - Fortune Town is much better than Panthip. Two floors of proper IT and mobile shops selling hardware with guarantees. And you can cross check prices with Tesco-Lotus for common items. Easy to get to using MRT.

PS - where can I get bog-standard HDMI cables? They all seem to cost about £25 here!

Try invadeit.co.th for online. IT City or Amorn in FT. There will also be lots of the smaller stores selling them at FT.

Yes it's very easy to get to. I found a weird way to walk to Pantip from Siam the other day, ended up crossing over the canal! You know that route? Goes past some posh restaurant and through the drive of a hotel. Much money there!

Details, please; I'd like to try it sometime. I don't have anything agains Panthip and always enjoy my visits. Has a lot of interesting little shops on the upper floors behind the main players. Enjoy visiting Busitek. Touts don't bother me, I can easily handle them and am used to them. Of course I like Fortune and others as well. Depends on where I am.

HDMI cable--PowerBuy has a fairly cheap one for about B200. Depends on the length--longer are more expensive.

I think Maithus means walking through the backside of Siam Paragon, past the Kempinski hotel you will reach Petchaburi road about 200 meters from Pantip near the ( I think Indonesian) Embassy

Have done it many times, but it's still an end to walk.
