Sakon Nakhon Immigration Office

Featured Replies

Yesterday I went for my extension to stay for one year based on retirement. My reporting office is Sakon Nakhon. I just want to say how nice they were and how easy it was. I had copies of all my passport pages, a copy of my bankbook (only ฿11,000 in it), a letter from the Canadian Embassy showing proof of income, and copies of my tax receipts showing same, and a copy of my Thai Drivers license. I also had a copy of my wifes ID card, house Registration Papers and our Marriage certificate. As an aside, I supply all the documentation I think they could possibly want, if they dont need it no problem, but if they ask for it and I dont have it, it could mean another trip.

I also filled out form tm7 Application for extension of stay in the Kingdom with the proper picture, and form tm47 90 day reporting form. Everything was in order and went smoothly. I then asked for one exit visa and here I made a mistake, for this visa, you need another set of copies of your passport and another picture. I had copies of my picture so that wasnt a problem, however I didnt have a second set of copies for my passport, but that turned out not to be a problem either, as they just made a set for me there.

I went just after lunch, about 13:10, and was there first customer, and was done by 13:40. I want to highly praise the Sakon Nakhon Immigration Office. The service was as all government service in any Country should be, but unfortunately usually isnt, Excellent.

When you say 'exit visa', are you referring to a re-entry permit?

Yes I mean reentry visa. My change was ฿100, I'm not going to ask for such a small amount back. In January I got a new passport and had to have the stamps transferred. It was very quick and no charge.

You shouldn't have to ask for it. Nobody should.

There are some good immigration offices but I had my worst experience at Jomtien immigration office. No customer service there.

At Jomtien you can be unlucky and get some agency in front of you with about 15 to 20 visas to do.

If you mean extensions of stay (as per the OP) rather than visas, these have to be applied for in person as the TM7 form makes clear. I therefore wonder whether you might actually be referring to 90-day address reporting (a completely separate requirement), which you don't need to make in person. You can, however, avoid long queues of agents/couriers seeking bumper-bundle reports of behalf of whole armies of foreigners by reporting by post (if your immigration office permits this, which not all do).

Good positive post. I also had only pleasant encounters with any offices in Sakon.
