Flash floods to hit Ranong and Phang Nga

BANGKOK, 15 July 2013 (NNT) - The National Disaster Warning Center is warning residents in the southern provinces of Phang Nga and Ranong to brace for flash floods on Monday and Tuesday.

The center said that flash floods, forest runoffs and mudslides are expected in a number of districts in both provinces which include La-Un, Khuraburi and Takua Pa. Residents living near flood-prone areas are advised to closely monitor the situation.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department reported that a southwestern monsoon covering the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand has collided with a low pressure cell near the Gulf of Tonkin, bringing more rains to other parts of the kingdom.

Strong winds will generate up to 3 meter high waves and all shippers should proceed with caution during the next two days.

Eastern and western parts of Bangkok and its vicinities will also be hit by thunderstorms.
