Ikea ? They are responsible of 4% of Earth forest devastation..... Sick....

Source ?

Forbes if i remember ; if not here , a good start and easy to find

http://www.forbes.com/sites/eco-nomics/2012/06/06/ikea-under-fire-for-clearing-ancient-russian-forest/

This is from that article about Ikea: http://www.forbes.com/sites/eco-nomics/2012/06/06/ikea-under-fire-for-clearing-ancient-russian-forest/

"

To produce them, the company logs about 1,400 acres of forest annually.

"

1,400 acres = 2.1 square miles = 5.6 square kilometers

Total deforestation per year = 56,000 square miles = 145,000 square kilometers (http://www.nature.org/ourinitiatives/urgentissues/rainforests/rainforests-facts.xml)

So Ikea is responsible for 0.004% of the total deforestation per year.

You were only off by a factor of 1,000...

And that's assuming all their wood comes from natural forests (I believe they use farmed forests for some of their wood).

ikea thailand only in thai even no english version, very strange

It's even more ridiculous than that.

Got our Thai catalogue in the post, and it has a flyer saying

"(For our English speaking friends, please visit http://www.IKEA.co.th/IKEAcatalogue2014 for more information)"

But the website it sends you to is in Thai, and there doesn't appear to be a way of choosing English anywhere.

(I did find a way of switching to English by changing the URL it sends you to - there's a string th_TH, if you change it to en_TH, it works, which makes the fact there's no option on screen to change the language even more odd...)

Furniture is strictly farang-stuff. If farang leaves on business for a few weeks, they push the furniture against the wall to make room for sitting on the floor. If there is enough space left, they will park the pick-up truck in the living room.

If the farang comes home earlier than planned, the farang will once more be confronted with this "cultural-difference-thing". But as we know, all cultural differences can be bridged over easily with the help of a functioning ATM-card. The farangs ATM-card, that is.

Cheers.
