Where To Get Original Doc Marten's Boots In LOS?

Anyone know where I can lay my hands on some genuine DMs in Thailand? I am assuming I need to go to BKK to get hold of them.

Not fakes please, I won't buy from Thai websites because they are awash with Chinese fakes ranging from 900 baht to 3000. I want real ones.

Normally I would wait till I got to the UK and buy some from the official DM website, they have some great sale offers and well cheap, but I can't get them to post to Thailand.

I visit BKK quite regularly so i don't mind going there any time soon. I know I can buy some from DM UK website and get a friend to ship to me, but I have had 3 things in the past 3 years go missing in Thai post. So don't really want to risk it.

Would appreciate any help. I am mostly looking for the original ox blood 16 holers.

Was just at Mega Bang Na in east BKK yesterday and saw an actual Doc Marten store. Due to the size of the shopping center, it might well be the real thing.

Ohh dear wrong again " All made in China" except for

Dr Martens are recruiting for a number of skilled Footwear Production Operatives to work within our small factory team, producing our premium ‘Made in England’ range. These positions will be based in Wollaston, Northants.

I'm really glad to see they are at least making something in England.

According to Wikipedia In 2003 Dr Martens came close to bankruptcy and moved all production to China and Thailand. In 2004 they resumed production at the Wollaston Northants factory - very small production volume at that factory.

My experience of shoes is that the nationality of the brand has more impact on quality than the nationality of the factory labour, and now I stick to British, or, in times of desperation, US shoe brands. My last purchase whilst in the US was a US$ 50 pair of Dockers, made in China.

I have seen Doc Martens in the outlet store next to Tesco, Sukhumvit Pattaya - basement level. Sandals, shoes and boots. Not sure that they will have your exact specification though.

Judging by the price and 'feel' I think they are genuine.

Thanks everyone.

I had no idea they were made in China and Thailand now, but then again it doesn't surprise me. I have not had a pair for well over 10 years now, but I want to start walking again (exercise) and I remember that my Docs were really comfortable for walking. You can't beat a new set of docs, you can literally bounce along the road.

Thanks again, I have enough info now to be able to grab some rather soon. I also may take a chance at getting a friend to post some over, you can pick them up from the official DM UK website for a little as £35 (2000 THB) but chances are I will grab some here, I doubt I could resist buying a pair if I had them in my hand, even if the price is over inflated like one poster said.

When those shoes are made in Thailand, why are they 3 times more expensive here than in the West?

If i had to guess i would say because its first sent to UK and then sent back here.

Little off topic, but funny

D&G, Emporio Armani, Channel and many other brands are cheaper in NYC than in Italy, because the distributor is in NYC

Perhaps because the retailers are so inefficient. And because of the lack of volume. And because that's the competitive price at which to sell them.

Are they really three times as expensive? I've never bought Dr Martens, but I find generally the same brands of shooes cost what I would expect, or up to 50% more.

I am not a Docs man so can not comment on price being double or triple, but the brand names i mentions were double the price in Italy

For the luxury brands, the price is arbitrary, I think, and I would expect a very big variation. But for fairly commodity boots like DMs, I would expect more consistent pricing.

Anyway, if the prices are fair, I might pick up a pair of docs, next time I'm in Mega Bangna, by way of a nostalgic reminder of my days as a paperboy

Sorry that is not true....DM's are still made in England, also made in China and 6 different styles are manufactured right here here in Thailand, all under licence and all are excellent quality...The store @ Paragon and @ Mega Bangna are both fully licensed and accredited stores..

I found some today at the Outlet Mall on the ground floor ( not basement ) " I Shoes " the shop is called if I remember corectly and the prices where not bad, about the same as from the UK.

There is also a smaller and more expensive selection at Central Pattaya Beach Mall.

Both places did not have any Doc Martins with steel toe caps. post-4641-1156693976.gif
