'Body in suitcase' suspect nabbed

BANGKOK: -- Police have arrested a well-known designer who they say killed a man, put the body in a suitcase and left it on a roadside in Chon Buri on July 3.

Chakrit “Daeng Designer” Chaowanonrojnaruj, 61, was apprehended at a home in Bangkok’s Chatuchak district on Friday, said Pol Maj Gen Katcha Thartsart, chief of the Chon Buri provincial police.

The body in the suitcase was identified as that of Thongchai Mareming, 60.

Police said that Mr Chakrit, who ran a design school, confessed that he had hired Thongchai, who was his friend, to organise a ceremony to show gratitude to teachers.

However, Thongchai kept slacking off and nagging him about money, the suspect said. In a fit of anger he repeatedly attacked the victim with a pipe until he was dead, according to the account given to police.

He told police that he then put the victim’s body in a black suitcase and drove out to dispose of it in Chon Buri the next day.

Police charged Mr Chakrit with murder and concealing a body.

Pol Maj Gen Katcha said that after investigators identified the man in the suitcase, they obtained information from the victim’s wife which led to the arrest.

The younger guy clearly was asking for it when he made the older guy lose face.

I expect the older guy said, "don't you know who I am", before he proceeded to bash his head in with a pipe.

Its a reasonable response to criticism and questions in Thailand. He should 'walk' from this. whistling.gif

Never forget the repressed anger these people have within, and the inability to consider their repurcussions that they harbour.

It's almost as if you have to treat them like a spoiled 4 year old, just to ensure safety.

RIP, lad.

You do have to treat them like that....

From birth that how they are treated and it becomes normal....

If they dont get what they want, they will cry and cry until the issue is dealt with....

Perhaps their brains stop maturing at 4 ?

Should have hired a farang.

Would have required a much larger suitcase, but at least a chronically whining farang would be considered mitigating circumstances. The defense could offer a few threads on TV as examples of what the accused had to put up with. Probably be classified as "stand your ground." like the Zimmerman creep in Florida.

"Never forget the repressed anger these people have within, and the inability to consider their repurcussions that they harbor."

They could join TV and stop repressing their infantile anger by being as anally expulsive with their opinions as the regulars here.

Never heard of anyone harbouring "repurcussions." Sounds like the repercussions of doing that could be intestinally damaging.

I seriously doubt that the whole Thai population throws as many hissy fits as the 4 year olds in this forum. Here on TV the whining never stops: 24/7.

It is astonishing how many devout Buddhists instantly grab a weapon and attack someone with it when they get angry. No one tries to work through their issues here, they just reach for anything that can inflict pain or death and start swinging.

Yes, it allows inconsequential ne'er do wells to pass judgment on people in the news, people in authority, police, politicians et al behind the screen of anonymity so they can convince themselves, despite all evidence to the contrary, that they're superior without actually confronting the people that they denigrate. Very effective for people "harbouring repurcussions" and other feelings of inadequacy.

Possibly useful when throwing mud on a few people who have done something incredibly stupid, but dismissing an entire population (aka "they") of nice, kind, pleasant people as spoiled 4 years, is actually just what a spoilt 4 year might do when throwing a hissy and it deserves a response. Can you fathom that?

Its the stupid way Thais bring up their children, especially boys, which get what they want with no consequences... Thats why its TABOO to touch them on the head (sarcasm)... They dont get a clip over the ears for being little dickheads...

Go to any school and watch those little f**kers own the school, while the girls tend to be polite to their elders ! (I have 2 girls at school, so see it daily)

Where is the logic here? A devout Buddhist by definition would not do such a thing, so how can that be astonishing. You are therefore astonished at nothing.

As for the rest of the paragraph. Thailand's murder rate is half what it was in 2009.

Do a tiny tiny bit of research before you take that bandage off . . .

Maybe there is an "absconse" erotic motif here...despite the known fact that the victim had a wife, maybe there was some sort of "gay-ish" relationship between the main protagonists ... that "fit of anger" would accommodate a passionate reaction, the kind established between sexual partners...it's just an opinion...

To be honest, I haven't met to many devout Buddhists. I am supposedly Christian, but am I devout? Hardly.

People are people. People snap, and apparently in Thailand, when they snap, they really snap.

Leave the suitcase on the side of the road? With all the undeveloped land, dumpsites, ditches, and abandoned properties, he leaves it at the side of the road? I guess he wanted to be caught. Maybe he was a neat freak, being a designer and all. I wonder how well packed the bag was? By color?
