Life For A Single Farang Girl

Featured Replies

thinking of taling a teaching post in Pattaya, starting in august, can anyone tell me what kind of social life and living style i can expect. 29 single female from London have travelled in Thailand, but never Pattaya. Will be getting an international teaching salary, how much is a decent apartment, any advice would be great, either here or through, [email protected] THANKYOU

Carrie, Pattaya is best known as a watering hole for men. It is a prime destination for tourists from all over the world as it is promoted as a 'resort' area with beachs and other tourist attractions.

As a single female you will find that most of the entertainment is centred around bars where single guys go to meet bar girls. Prostitution is one of the biggest parts of the tourism industry in Pattaya.

However. If you are going to be an international school teacher you may find that it is not such a bad place. There are laods of restaurants, cafes and other entertainemnts, big hotels everywhere also have their own outlets.

there are many expats in Pattaya, so services for them are pretty good. Its not far fromBangkok, so you can easily come to Bangkok for weekends. As a teacher you will get good holidays of course so you can travel around Thailand and nearby countries easily.

Accommodationshould be no problem, there are condos, houses, townhouses etc. You could live outside Pattaya near the beach and have quite a nice lifestyle.

Just be careful that it has that repuation. Also lately there has been a rash of expats either jumping off or falling off their condo balconies.......how.....who knows.

Hi carrie123

To be honest don't really know much about Pattaya but know some females that teach at international schools around there. They enjoy it, but come the weekend they flock to koh samet. It's actually an amusing sight - a flood of farang women, giggling and laughing as they head toward their regular bungalows. They stay the weekend and head back to Pattaya some time on Sunday. Samet is very female friendly, not a big place but big enough to enjoy yourself. Good luck with it and keep us posted how you get along. :o

Nat,

There was a thread before started by a farang man asking where he could meet single farang women.

Why did'nt you tell him what you knew all along?

Anyway, better late than never,... :o:D

Who said anything about these girls being single....why do you think they're giggling and laughing :D:D

Ned--think you are wasting your time. Emailed her much the same info, but bounced back as non-existant user. Anyways guess at the very least info can be used for legitimate sources (real ladies who might have this question)

no i am here and the address was down as [email protected]. thanks so much for the other responses guys :o

My humblest apologies then Carrie, here is what I tried to email you..... :o Guess I stuck me foot in it!

I have to be honest with you I'm not sure its a place for a single ferang lady. I can't recall even bumping into any on my trips unless they were with family or with husband.

Pattaya is more of a single man's mecca. Definitely very different to Bangkok. (extremely cheap place for shopping, food, accomodations, services) One of the

few places in the world your mates fight over who pays the check.

Beaches are dodgey- usually take a speedboat over to one of the islands. (clean beach and avoid all of the hassles you'll find on Beach Rd- ie ladyboys, thiefs,

vendors, and freelance gals)

Since you are getting paid in Western standards- I think you will be quite alright money wise. As far as social life- might be lonely I've read quite a few Ferang women claiming this in Bangkok, so might be worse in Pattaya.

However might be worth a try I assume you'll have a contract for year? (not so bad and one of the best things you can say is living/traveling abroad) Luckily my position has me traveling constantly, so I'm never home! :D

Anyways I'm only one opinion so don't let me put you off. Talk to a few people and maybe you can get a mate to go along!!! :D
