I am paying my taxes in Thailand, and I would like to know if I (or my Thai wife) hire, as an individual, a Thai maid for instance (not through a servicing company, but directly), can I deduct his/her salary from the taxes I am paying to the Thai tax revenue department?

Thx in advance

I'd like to hear the theory on which you think you might be able to. Maybe I'm missing something. I certainly never heard of any country in which domestic servants are treated as a tax deductible expense.

In order to fight against undeclared employment, and to protect servants by providing them a medical coverage, the French government has proposed many years ago a tax reduction of 25 to 50% of the servants salary for their employers, when they are individuals... Was just wondering if such a measure existed here. Candid question i suppose... :o

Wouldnt it just be easier to hire a maid - cash only hence she doesnt pay tax and you get the service cheaper - i would have thought getting involved in the tax system in thailand is not worth it even if you could.

I can imagine the tax department now "wealthy farang wants tax deduction for paying maid a couple of thousand a month" cheeky bugger..!!!! :o
