April 11, 200620 yr Be aware of summer storms during Songkran celebrations:Weather bureau BANGKOK: -- People are warned to be aware of downpours of rain and summer storms in this ongoing Songkran festival, with those in the North and Northeast to be affected first. The Meteorological Department issued the warning on Tuesday, saying that downpours of rain were expected in the country's northern, northeastern, central and eastern regions from April 11-12 due to the influence of a southern wind covering the warmer regions. Spattering rain is also forecast in the country's southern region over the next couple of days. A high pressure ridge from China is covering the country's warmer northeastern region as well from April 13-16, causing continued raining with summer storms and hailstones anticipated in some areas, according to the weather bureau. All other parts of the kingdom, including the northern, the eastern, the central and the southern regions, would be affected thereafter, the Meteorological Department warned. --TNA 2006-04-11
April 11, 200620 yr Yep, but "the Storms" aren't that bad at all - nothin' compared to what happened in November last year! This mornin' on Samui, rolling thunder, and dark clouds a drizzle for half an hour and that was it...sunshin on 'n off - so one doesn't get sunburned that fast. I find it in fact quite refreshing - after the rains!
April 11, 200620 yr Theres been a lot of unseasonal rainstorms here just north of Bangkok recently. I hope they continue as they are keeping things cool at the moment.
