For Australians only

Featured Replies

My brother lives in Australia for some 30 years now. Is retired and get's some tax-benefits. Those tax-benefits will come to an end as soon he transfers any funds to a relative living outside of Australia.

According to him, Aussie-Government will consider this as "supporting family members" living outside of Australia, and therefore him loosing tax-benefits even if it's only a "Happy-Birthday" transfer of 200 Aussie Dollars.

I could understand that if every month a fixed amount would "leave the country", it could be considered as supporting "people living outside of Australia" and therefore certain Tax-Benefits would be nullified (rightly so)!

But a one time transfer? No matter what the amount and then loose tax-benefits for live?smile.png

Cheers.

and it's going to get worse if no one tries to do something.....the election is 7th September, he can help stop the rot then.....

The Australian Government in power at present is BROKE!!!!!!....but they spend a Million Dollars on each and every refugee landing there.

Why do you think they wont go after ALL Australians, in every way they can.

Maybe you are referring to the concept of 'gifting' where say an elderly person 'gifts' some money to a friend relative so that his cash balance then falls to a level where he can claim the full OAP?

Is this what you are referring to?

If not, what is the ruling under?
