Featured Replies

Hi have a problem i would like some advice on i got a phone call from my wife a few weeks ago who i had not spoke to for five years telling me she had got re married i asked how she could of done that she said through the courts so i phoned an Amphur office in Bangkok and they confirmed i was divorced but what i need to know now is how would i get hold of this paper without actually going to thailand as i can't afford nor would i want to step foot in the country again cheers !!

Contact the Thai embassy in your country, maybe they can give you some useful information.

The amphur can probably only give copy of the divorce register and confirm your status .Suspect you will need to get a copy of the court decision. Normally you need to give a power of attorney for somebody else to obtain, but not 100% sure on that.

You might need to hire a lawyer to obtain the document if you do not have a friend to give a power of attorney too. (Or if the ex is unwilling to help you.

You will/might also need to use the court document to change your registered status in your own country. That might require translation and certification of the document. Check with the authorities in your own country or your embassy in Thailand.

Hi I'm from the uk i have sent photocopies to a mate that lives in Thailand he lives in Pattaya which is in the same place the papers were registered with. Thats the divorce that went through the courts the marriage was registered in issan. i only registered it in the uk to get he a national insurance number wish i hadn't bothered now but hind sight is a wonderful thing.... i phoned both embassies in both countries and neither wanted to help it was like speaking to a brick wall.i actually got the divorce put through the courts here for her to sign sent some in the post then i got someone that was going over to hand them to her which they did because i spoke to her. But she still didn't sign them. Its not as if she would of got any money out of me because i got a separation order put through the courts over here. She signed that as i recorded it on camera and that meant she was not entitled to a penny from that day. then for her to call out of the blue after five years to tell me she was remarried with 2 kids to a bloke from greece i asked her how she had done that she said she had filed through courts over there and got it through in 2011 and she laughed about it when i asked her about signing my papers that i had sent out more or less saying im ok and thank you but <deleted> you all i need is that one peace of paper but it seems so hard to get.. cheers !!
