Denied Visa

Featured Replies

Hi,

If I apply for a 6-day tourist visa, and it is denied does that mean that I wouldnt be able to enter Thailand at all, even if I shorten my trip to less than 30-days to take advantage of the 30-day visa exemption for a RSA passport?

Thanks

6 day visa?

Sent from my GT-I9300 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

The Tourist Visa is for 60 days and can be extended by 30 days at Immigration.

You should not be refused.

Even if you were you would be entitled to a 30 days Visa Exempt entry.

Are you saying that you have already been denied a 60 day tourist visa? What reason was given?

Reason for refusal is important, If it is not clear best enquire why, as you have been refused a visa you may be refused a 30 day visa exempt on arrival.

Even then they may want to see proof that you do intend to leave within 30 days.

If ur black listed u would be refused a visa in advance an i assume a visa on arrival as well .

your name/passport info would be in their computer.

6 days visa denial, never heard of it...

I have reposted the original post below. It seems to contain a typo - 6 should read 60!

It does not refer to a refused visa but rather to a hypothetical refusal --- a "what if " query !

I very much doubt the OP would be refused a tourist visa.

S/he appears to be from South Africa so I cannot believe there would be a problem

curious why u state that?

the OP could have been deported before or .....

Without all the info u cant make a statment one way or the other.

Maybe we shall hear again from the OP.

My bet is on a visa being issued !smile.png

I assume he meant a 60 day tourist visa and just didn't hit the 0 key strong enough.

I've done something similar befor .

6 or 60 days, that's not the point.

Visas are granted from the Foreign Ministry via embassies and consulates. There is no right to be granted a visa and the staff there is not required to tell you a reason for refusal. If you encounter a refusal, don't get upset, but try to ask politely. That will not give you a visa, but maybe you get to know the reason.

Entry to Thailand, via border or airport is granted by Immigration police, a sub-division of the Ministry of Interior. In 99.9% of all cases the immigration will give you a stamp for the duration as indicated in the visa you have,- or the said 30 days. However, they can decide against allowing you in or only for a shorter period of time than the visa allows. That is their right, and again you have no legal right to be allowed in.

So a visa is not an automatic "right" to enter a country. And neither visa nor entry can be demanded or gained by juristic steps. You don't have to like it, but that is the situation. Btw. it works the other way round also, i.e. your home country not allowing people in. In fact more 3rd world people are denied access to Europe or the USA than western people are denied entry to 3rd world countries.

If that helps, in many years of staying in Thailand I heard of only one case, where the immigration cut a Tourist visa short to a one-month stay, telling that person to get things sorted out, because afterwards he will be a "persona-non-grata".

And if you really don't get to get into Thailand, try Cambodia, Vietnam or Myanmar as alternative destination.

Although you are far more likely to be denied a tourist visa in the case of Cambodia, Vietnam or Myammar than Thailand, it seems to me. And tourist visas obtained in advance are compulsory for all Westerners visiting those 3 countries (i.e. no 30-day visa-exempt entries are permitted, unlike to Thailand).

Right, OJAS, I just wanted to show, that there are alternatives to Thailand. At least for Cambodia the rule is, that you can get a 30 days visa upon arrival at Phnom Penh's Pochentong airport for 20 US$.

Another alternative for "titties & beer" tourists might be some parts of the Phillipines. Angeles, do you copy?

SamM.
