Statistic on purchase vehicle by finance vs cash in Thailand

Featured Replies

Is there any available statistic or sales records which point to annually sold cars on finance vs. cash in Thailand?

Finance for me. Which puts the official government survey at 100% finance, so far.

There doesn't seem to be a government agency or department that would deal with data such as this. As far as I know there isn't even such things as crash tests performed and published.

My friend recently tried to get information about vehicle gas mileage and ended up getting an email reply from one of the Thai manufacturers telling him to ask a local dealer about the mileage of the particular inquired vehicle.

Right, no govt reporting, but there are some private companies compiling auto industry data, and lots of company internal data being collected, but never published as well.

As for crash tests, ASEAN NCAP is now established and conducting tests, but it will be a while before they tested enough cars to produce useful comparison data. Rules are based on ANCAP but with relaxed requirements for 5-stars.

Thai banks and lenders do care as also automakers. This gives a perfect image of the sector's viability and also of the level of indebtness of the Thai society.

This will make you smile. I know a lady that has just retired and got a nice lump some from work. Sooooo she bought her kids and a grand child a car, down payment that is. They all think wow, BUT, they now say they cannot make the monthly payments w00t.gif , now gran is making them. facepalm.gif

I don't know any thai buying car / home without finance (unless they're buying it for the Mia Noi perhaps?). Of course there would be some Rich thais who could afford buying in cash, because they have no time to pay finance every month :)
