Thaksin supports Yingluck in his FB posting
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- In his Facebook posting, at 6.10pm of Saturday, former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra supported the government's initiative on the political reform council.

Saying that he was in Hanoi, he witnessed rapid changes but uncertainties seemed to hang over the Vietnamese skies. He noted that confidence, if lost, could take time to be restored.

He said that in Asean, Thailand holds the highest potential, but it is being drawn back by hatred and distrust.

"Prime Minister Yingluck’s initiative for all to jointly design the new modern social contract theory, whereby the new Constitution would be drawn up for more inclusiveness and to ensure the winners don’t take all, should allow Thailand to grow faster," he said.

You got to be kidding me. Thailand stands to lose the most and Thaksin knows it, so is laying the blame before the deed.

Once ASEAN happens, Thailand had better prepare to bend over, touch its toes and prepare to be reamed out without lubes.

Look at all the industry in the rest of ASEAN and cheaper too, also commodities, all coming over duty and vat free.

Edited to add, and usually better quality.

Indeed believing that the advantages of having some roads and infrastructure will keep Thailand on the top of the heap are misguided. They already have a shortage of daily labour here. They missed the boat by not investing in education for the last 20 years.

What attractions do they offer businesses beyond other countries? Infrastructure, and not too much more.

One flick of a pen to change tax and ownership laws in a neighbouring country and it would change even more in a second.

It won't be too long until FDI really starts to slow down. Export growth will slow in comparison with the neighbours. Complacency will hurt Thailand a great deal once ASEAN comes really into force.

Complacency and their "superior" attitudes are already hurting Thailand now, it's only going to get worse as they just can't seem to get their heads around the issues.

Another analysis of the economic situation of Thailand by the Snake Oil Peddler. And who would have thought that only with the "Thaksin Amnesty Bill" in force would Thailand be able to unfold its full potential in ASEAN.

But he is right when he states "[...] confidence, if lost, could take time to be restored [...]". Unfortunately he is too dumb to see that this is now happening to the reputation of Thai rice.

Wouldn't that be a nice constitution? Unfortunately the only constitution the PTP proposes is one that whitewashes Thaksin. There is noway they would ever propose one like the above mentioned. They would lose to much power then.

I notice there are very few replies to this, so I guess that there are quite a few that are sick and tired of reading the news about this man, his opinions and his control from the shadows of the current administration, their criminal activity, disregard for the people, and what clothes they are wearing... soo...

Who cares.. find us all something interesting and inspiring to read.

Of course if he (Thaksin) looked into the mirror he would see clearly the image reflected back to him concerning the cause and prime mover of the aforementioned current atmosphere of hatred and distrust here in Thailand.

Any action or reaction can only proceed in line with it's slowest step. Thaksin and for that mater the rest of the Shiniwatra clan have acted as an inhibitor to growth, development and confidence in Thailand so it is most unlikely that from their past record that Thailand has any advantage or elevated position within the forthcoming Asean conglomerate. They will be well behind pole position owing to the years of arrogant, isolated and insular Governance and the low confidence level that they have cultivated. Because a clown says something do not make it so.

Very true, except he fails to see that the hatred and distrust is of him, the PTP, UDD, Red Shirts and Thaksin sycophants.

I fear that Thailand has squandered it's potential and is now lining itself up to become the new Burma (oppressive dictatorial regime), while Burma is looking like it will become the Asian Tiger that Thailand should have been.

This is about as far from the truth as one can get. What initiative from Yingluck? She only acts on what Thaksin thinks.

The bit about the constitution is priceless. PTP wants to re-write it to ensure that the winner (he who must be obeyed) takes all and any hurdle - such as a court - be de-fanged or abolished.

Because the Thai governments, of his brother-in-law, then the Dems, and now (for two years) his sister, seem curiously reluctant to pursue him via Interpol.

Then again, with all his billions and a private-jet, perhaps he really is harder to catch-up with ?

off-topic, but I wonder what business he has with the Vietnamese ?

For a bit of variety it would interesting, although not very inspiring, to have Thaksin downing a glass of water while Yingluck mouths off the Thai alphabet. Let´s see how that works out.

As both have a reputation of surrendering when the going gets tough this is not really a good idea. But Nattawut can sing about grocery stores and scare people away with that.
