Big dude looking for quality tshirts

Dear TV members.

I have this irritating problem that I cant seem to find a few cool tshirts that fit me.

The case is that I regularly work out and as a side effect I am quite big. To make it worse, I am 6'2". So wherever I go they have the well known thai sizing which doesnt fit me. I am aware of the few export shops around, and the night market that mostly caters for foreigners but their quality is so bad that I am not willing to blow money on that.

Anywhere else, mostly in the malls I did find tshirts that I like but expecting them to have xxl..that I usually need would be wishful thinking.

Any suggestions related to the solution of this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Try this link: http://www.asiatradingonline.com/thunder.htm

You'll find the brands they list at most outdoor markets all over Thailand. You can also order on-line. Too bad most farangs living in LOS don't know how to find things.

If you are in Bangkok go to the Patapong area (Sala Daeng BTS station). They have large golf complex which has golf shirt of any size if you need those. Go across the street to the shopping center at the Central Shopping center and they have Big and Tall shop on the 2nd or 3rd floor.

The shop at the Airport Plaza has some really big t-shirts. I bought some for a few friends last Christmas. The Export Shop on Huay kao also has some large sizes but not great for selection for t-shirts but they do have some other XXX shirts.

And if you find XXL beware. They are usually equivalent to a western L.

In the 70's, clothing manufacturers moved most of the business to Asia and sizes changed dramatically. I wore Medium shirts until arounf 78, when Large became a tight fit - I was the same height & weight, but the shirts wre suddenly sized smaller. Today I am larger and avoid T-Shirts - rather ugly things anyway. So much chjeaper and easier to have a tailor make the things I need - shorts and sport shirt - in my style.

I also can recommend DR.ZU at the airport plaza. Not a huge selection, but they did have a fair amount of T-Shirts with nothing on them (my preference), and I'm still wearing a few of them seven years later.

Also, Amazon.com has a new shipping service to Thailand and several other countries, if you spend $125 or more you can get free shipping to Thailand. There are a lot of clothes eligible to be shipped, and also more importantly for me, shoes in large and wide sizes. I haven't tried this out myself yet, but it's the first order I'm going to make when I move back to Chiang Mai in September.

Are you sure Thailand is included? Following that linkI only found Singapore and India mentioned.

Yes, I called to make sure, this page shows all 65 countries that are part of this new deal. The selection is pretty limited compared to what you can buy in the USA, but a whole lot better than what you can get in Chiang Mai locally.

I'll report back when my first order comes in.

Can I order from Amazon without problems?

I am referring to customs and things like that since its imported stuff.

Thanks

I imagine there will be some customs charges involved, the vagaries of the thai customs department make it impossible to say exactly what they will be.

However on that site they said they helped facilitate customs, but I'm not sure what that entails necessarily.

That page shows countries they ship to. Another page describes the free shipping for orders of more than $125 and states that it is only to Singapore and India. I just tried an order for $150 and they wanted $50+ for shipping to Thailand and free to Singapore so it is not working for Thailand now.

Amazon replied to my email inquiry stating that the free shipping does not apply to shipments to Thailand, only Singapore.

Yep +1 for Airport Plaza shop (used to be in Hang Dong / Hod road - sign with cartoon guy bending over with his trousers down!!!). They sell shorts, T-Shirts, trunks, polo shirts and shirts too - with sizes from XL up to 6XL (HUGE!!!) - nice modern stuff too - like going in there because it makes me feel thin once again, looking at the skinny end of the rack biggrin.png

//EDIT: aghghghgh!!! Their/There hate doing that!

For the basics, try Dr Zuu. Its the store that others have referred to, in front of TOPS Airport Plaza.

Yes that is the name in the center aisle about 100 feet from the Tops in the basement.
