Rimmer
Traffic Police Officer threatened by team of illegal parking attendants in North Pattaya PATTAYA:--On Saturday afternoon a Thai Motorist lodged a complaint with Traffic Police over a parking charge of 60 Baht they were forced to pay to park on a public road in North Pattaya. The complaint was made at the Police Box at the Dolphin Roundabout in North Pattaya and to Police Senior Sergeant Major Somsee from Pattaya’s Traffic Police Division. He made his way to Soi Petragoon behind Big C in North Pattaya and in front of the Big Eye Show and saw the parking attendants who were allegedly taking money from motorists to park on public roads. As the Police Officer approached, one of the attendants placed a call to a friend and suddenly the officer was surrounded by a group of 10 men who attempted to intimidate the officer and force him to retreat. The officer stood his ground and called-in for backup which soon arrived. 20 Police Officers and Volunteers converged on the location forcing the group of attendants to make a hasty retreat to avoid arrest.Full story:http://www.pattayaone.net/pattaya-news/99485/traffic-police-officer-threatened-team-illegal-parking-attendants-north-pattaya/ -- Pattaya One 2013-08-

petercool
They've got a cheek trying to muscle in on police territory. There's only one space for one gang in Pattaya. Assuming you drive and thus park a car, when has a policeman ever asked you for a parking charge on public roads in the way these guys did ? I am not talking of fines for illegal parking within marked zones.

Not sure if you've paid attention to that news articles here are almost never quoted in full. This is according to the forum rules. If you do read the full story on pattayaone, the article ends with: "Four of the attendants were arrested and taken to Pattaya Police Station where they were held pending further investigations."
