it is Discount-stamp-time again at 7-eleven..... but what is it good for?

from time to time "Seven" gives you those old-fashioned Discount stamps, but what is it actually worth / good for ? Unlike Yamazaki, they don't give you a small book or leaflet where you can attach it and collect it and where they actually explain how to use those stamps.

so what about those stamps at "Seven" ? is it worth cash on your next purchase ? Or should I just continue to pin them at the mailbox of that nasty neighbor on my floor whose (illegal) poodle wakes me up at 5.30 a.m. each morning ?

They do give out a book to put them in, you have to ask for it.

You can order some promotional items (listed on the book they give you) or apparently spend them as cash on some goods when they are full.

In many 7/11's there's a small box with the small folders near the place where you place your shopping, near the cash register.

My family collects the stamps and my Thai daughter in law uses them to buy toys, mostly good quality and many are educational.

Heh, we've filled 6 books so far. We're after the 1, 000 point foldaway table and benches.

Go buy one it will work out far cheaper in the long run.

Save your stamps for a load of tat,it's good for business.

You can save up for promotional items like backpacks, ice chests etc. If you don't want any of those items, you can spend the stamps as cash. They're worth 1 baht apiece. Only catch is you can't use them to buy booze.

Yeah the easiest is throw them away smile.png

But my wife always sticks them in her purse & the next time she buys something she just gives them back

for the 1 baht each deduction off what she is now buying.

77 will get you a seven cash card. think the cash card offer ends 25 singakom= august though so be quick. gonna get some more toothpaste to put me over the 77 tomorrow.

other stuff end december 15 i think.

maybe look here to see whats going on http://www.7eleven.co.th/html/

and http://www.7eleven.co.th/html/Corp_0813_click.pdf

this isnt actually correct. the deal is you pay 190 baht to get a cashcard and 77 stamps so effectively the cash card for 113 baht. using this card then entitles you to further future discounts.

inside the pack you get a further 4x50 baht discount coupons for use with purchases of over 300 baht made with the card.

draw backs with having a card: where are you going to cash all those atm issued 1000 baht notes to pay for stuff at the street vendors, bus tickets etc.

Already put in 3 books for 3 umbrellas with torches attached. Last time we got several bags. Also got a large backpack and a foldup doubly chair and table with cup holders :) and many cutlery sets and plastic bowl/plate sets over the years. Best this time is a picnic table and benches (portable type).

More litter on the sidewalk! Really not into pasting stamps in a book like my grandmother did back in the 1960s so I just refuse them.

i find them more convenient than scratching around in the depths of my pocket for 1 baht coins when needed for say a 101 baht price total, i put the stamps in my wallet and use them in place of coins.

would like to know, since u guys say the stamp worth one baht each. can i use them altogether to buy something?

lets say a 16 baht soymilk? all with 16 stamps?

Everyday I go in the 7/11 everyday I give the stamps back to the girl, she knows I dont want them but suspect is forced to give them me, newer girls will even lecture me about "get money", I get bored waiting for them to get them out the draw rip them off blah blah, load of rubbish worth bugger all, waste of paper and time.
