There have been several timing changes regarding when you can apply for the annual extension at Jomtien and how old the embassy letter can be. Searching through old threads I come up with a variety of answers (and my memory is becoming more sieve-like).

(1). Last year I applied for the extension 7 weeks before it was to expire. Can you still apply for the annual extension up to two month early?

(2) Regarding the embassy letter, in one thread there was a comment made in March or April referencing the embassy letter and stating that, according to the Pattaya City Expats Club, Jomtien was allowing 3 months. But when I went to the linked website, it now shows 6 months. http://www.pattayaci...tendingStay.pdf

If you are using monthly income in total or in part to meet the financial requirements, you will need an original letter or certification from your Embassy attesting to your monthly income. The letter must not be more 6 months days [sic] old1.

And in another thread someone said he had been told by the US Embassy it was 90 days, but I don't recall the date on that message.

I remember there was a kefufle when Immigrations reduced the time allowed to 30 days and then it was extended again, but when the dust finally settled, how old can the embassy letter be when you present it to Jomtien Immigrations? And do they count from the time of issue of the letter to the day you go in to apply or to the date when the annual extension expires?

The Embassy letter validity is six months (and that is what the US Embassy advised).

Up to 30 days in advance everywhere but recent reports that 45 days is now being allowed. Jomtien used to allow 2 and 3 months early but believe 30-45 days is likely current max amount.

Thirty days early by most reports.

Six months for income letter is latest news. But wouldn't advise it. Unless from US and doing it at an outreach visit by embassy. Things can change in six months. To me 30 days is a good number.

I do mine in Nakhon Sawan and they, at least for the last three years, require that the letter not be older than 30 days. It seems that it is up to the immigration office that you use. Best to contact them direct to be sure what their present policy is as management changes cause changes in policy.

The six month validity rule is new as of several months ago and in response to a previous rule of only 15 day validity a few weeks before being far too short.

Embassy letter regarding funds 6 months seems to be the rule. But what about the printout of the funds that we have to take to the Canadian Embassy, how old can that be for Immigration?? (Print out showing the funds going into the account, at least for one month.)

Would you think the printout showing the money going in for the monthly method would be good as long as the letter from the Embassy confirming it??? Thanks.

Back up to income letter would be have to be recent I would think. Other than annual statement that some people get for their pension.
