PATTAYA:--A nationwide crackdown on the illegal use of wild elephants in elephant farms around Thailand is currently underway and a team of Police and Wildlife Officials raided a Pattaya Elephant Farm on Monday afternoon and found irregularities which are now being investigated.

Officials from the National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation Department along with Police from the Crime Suppression Division for Resources and Environment obtained a search warrant from the Pattaya Provincial Court to check “Camp Chang” which is located on the Sukhumvit Road in the Na-Jomtien area.

Registration documents for each of the elephants were checks as were microchips which elephants used for commercial purposes are required to have injected under their skin to allow for quick identification.

Officers found a problems with one of the elephants named as “Poonsub” aged 47
