Any people with above average handyman skills, want to attach this rod section to my Honda Forza top box, some sort of small bracket but where can I get something made or something available to buy? post-166124-13778253158989_thumb.jpgpost-166124-13778253273113_thumb.jpg

Oh, please.......say it ain't a flag-pole.

It's a fishing rod section as in a fishing rod! No where have I mentioned anything about a pole!

You could consider buying a small length of conduit that is larger than the fishing rod or "pole." You could then drill through the conduit and into the bike locked box, twice, a matter of inches apart. Attach with some fine thread bolts, washes and locking nuts. Brass or stainless bolts would be preferable, due to sea air.. The head or the nut of the bolt is inside the locked box and the other end is on the outside the outside of the conduit.

Then, use some more of the bolts just through the conduit to "block the conduit" so the rod doesn't fall through the bottom. These extra bolts just go through the conduit, to carry the weight of the rod. They would be just slightly above the the top bolt on the bike's locked box. This will also allow the conduit to drain from rain water.

If you bought quite large conduit, you could place it lower to the ground and just "cap" the bottom and drill a few holes to drain the rain water. So, the rod would just fit between the bolts and the conduit.

I see the locked box has a "rim" around the centre, so, you may need some spacers on the bolts.

If it's a one piece rod, don't forget about the low cabling across streets around here and if it's a two piece rod, the part with the reel can sit on the top of the conduit and both parts of the rod down in the conduit.

Hmm, radio antenna??

To mount my ham radio antennas on my car (sheet metal or fibreglass body area), I use a special, reinforcing backing plate to provide strength and to reduce the likelyhood of the fibreglass splitting.

Here are some photos from the manufacturer's web-site;

Thanks for that mate, not sure if anything there will work.

Basically, use the conduit as a "holster" for the rod. It should work well, or something similar in design.

Cheers,I am going to look into that tomorrow, one rod is just over 6ft the other one just under 6ft.

@ dogpoo

If one piece rods, remember the overhead low hanging cables. You maybe able to bend down the end of the rod and hook it to your basket to lower them.

They are only as long as I have stated, on,y a few feet would be above the top box!!

That's pretty much what I had in mind, accept, using a piece of conduit. Looks good.

I like the way you got the "plug" in for the "Green Asia Travel Company." :) :)

Blue water pipe. Great, stick with the whole marine/water theme. :) :)

Does my consultation classify as "work" in Thailand? Is it possible one can work on TV without a work permit? Should I fear arrest? :) :)

What flag will you put on the end?

Dämn, you're keen!

Yep love my fishing, there is no where on Phuket, I won't pay the high prices of these tourist pay lakes, I can go for one week fishing, bait, accommodation, food, a couple of beers and fuel, all this for less than 7000฿ 1 day at these tourist pay lakes will cost between 4000฿ to over 5000฿ they have big fish but so does the pl e where I go, just come back where I caught a Giant Siamese carp of 50kgs and for a fraction of the price!
