True Cable Router and Port Forwarding

I am not sure if this has been answered elsewhere. If so, please supply me the link. Thanks.

I have just switched from ADSL to cable internet with True. The Docsis router, Thomsin technicolor TC7200, supplied by True seems to not be configured to allow for torrent downloads.

I have unsuccessfully tried to download a number of different torrents. No port is detected and no incoming connections are found in my torrent download managers.

I have gone into the router settings and tried unsucessfully to set up port forwarding.

I had no problems downloading torrents when using True ADSL.

Any one have any ideas on how to configure for torrents? Cheers.
I am using both Linux and Windows operating systems. No luck in either so far.

That's interesting. Actually, I think the Technicolor is not a Thompson. It is a new router that True have just started doling out to customers.

I just had a long conversation with a True support person. He tried his best but I still cannot download torrents. IE he didn't know either.

I asked him if he could get a technician to look into the matter as I am going round in ciricles at the moment. Maybe some better inspiration in the morning.

Does your torrent client permit assigning a port number and/or assigning a random port number? That *might* get you around any built-into-the-router restriction.

I have found the answer! The default Firewall in the router was blocking ports. Turning the routers Firewall off enabled torrent downloads. Now I will need to look at properly setting up the routers Firewall.

ws just going to say I have a True Thomson TCW 770 and have no problem with torrents. I switch off all but one of those boxes on the security setup.
