Congressman Duckworth was elected to look after the well being of her constituents in America. For her to make comments

or worry about Thai events is completely insane.

Maybe, I don't know, she's proud to call herself thai? It's right there in the article. Elected to a position or not, you can still have personal interests. It really isnt rocket science.

You are right, it is not rocket science. She was elected to server the people of her district in America. Nobody there gives a crap if her mother was Thai, or her grandfather was from Bulgaria. So she needs to keep her eye on the ball and take care of home base. When she is on the the Committee for Foreign Relations, then she can make noise about the affairs of foreign countries. Besides it is a bit bizarre for her to be throwing out sound bite comments from afar on a thorny issue that the government of Thailand has not even begun to figure out the solution to.
