You're only allowed one, otherwise its double standards on the quadruple standards that the police utilize.

"We must let the price be decided by the market mechanism,"

Don't hear the government says anything like that about the market price for rice.

So the price is 70 baht a kilo now.

Under Abhisit it was 50-60 baht per kilo.

Didin't see any protests then did we?

I wonder why?

Two reasons: 1 everything was cheaper then, so purchasing power was higher back then. 2 feeling of unfairness since rice farmers do get large subsidy, which funnily enough results in first reason again.

And price of rubber really did seriously crash in the past one and a half year since ptp is in power. Prices dropped nearly 60%. Surely a coincidence, but that's not how these farmers see it.

As hilarious as it is to go on about how many 'standards' the government has we must eventually reign in our guffaws having saved our sides from splitting, wring out our soiled underwear and acknowledge that this is actually about the competence of the police in handling social unrest. Even if - as you contend - exploding gas canisters were knowingly used that time years ago, the incompetence lay in having purchased them in the first place.

And no one needs reminding of the uselessness of the police in other riot scenarios since then. What's happened yesterday is another sign - following the last attempt by a few yellows to blockade parliament - that they are improving their effectiveness, which will hopefully hold for any future rioting no matter who the instigators are.

Agreeably it was police incompetence that led to the purchase of exploding gas canisters and police incompetence to use them again, even after it was known they were exploding and injuring people.

As for the most recent deployment of tear gassing, I'm not aware of how effective it was, other than apparently no one has been maimed by it. I can agree that, at least, is an improvement.

Time will tell if they reduce their quadruple standards down to a single standard.

what is this, a box of cornflakes http://www.afet.or.th/v081/english/

its like a gambler at the casino who loses his money then blockades the roads in a riot to get his money back. pathetic. they got the cover there why dont they use it? oh i get it, they all have a thai education.
